We are just spending a day on Tortola. What is the best place for lunch that will be open mid August?

Manpot will know for certain, but I would suggest Stanley's at CGB.

The key question is where do you want to be at lunch time? Besides eating lunch, what do you plan on doing?

I think Boat House has the best lunch on island, but I also adore the Pub.

Is the Boat House the same as the Royal BVI Yacht Club restaurant behind TMM? We've done lunch there several times and it's always very good. Should also mention Cappricio de Mer in the heart of Road Town for wonderful pizza.

The Boat House is at Manuel Reef Marina at Sea Cow's.

Stanley's is great for your very basic lunch fare with an amazing view..love The Boathouse and..if in Road Town..always Capriccio. the burger at Nicole's in Brewer's ranks right up there too..and lunch at Sebastian's is always good with an amazing view too..actually I'd rather go there for a late breakfast (by 11)..

Remember August...Stanley's will not be open or they have not been in the past...

Yes, in August many places in Cane will be closed and chances are Stanleys will be. Personally I wouldn't rate any place in Cane as a great place to eat lunch unless you wanted to be on the beach then I would say it is the best place to be. My first thought for a great lunch is the Boathouse (Duff's Bottom marina), really good food and a nice location, although I haven't been there since chef Vaughn left for Peg Legs at Nanny Cay...and saying that wherever Vaughn is the food HAS to be great! Spaghetti Junction has a nice lunch too (mostly Indian fare but they also have burgers and fajita's [Yumm}). Of course Caprricio's is always good for pasta and pizza. Don't forget Charlie's at the Moorings, which I consider the best lunch in Road Town area. Cruzins grilled pizza is a nice choice if you want to relax in the shade of the trees in Carrot Bay. All of these places are likely to remain open during August.

Capriccio di Mare, in Roadtown almost right across from the ferry terminal, is delightful. Called an Italian caffé, it is the "daughter" of Brandywine Bay restaurant. Wonderfully inventive sandwiches, pasta dishes, and pizzas at lunch. Also an excellent breakfast stop.
