We have stayed there 3-4 times without any problems. Ask for a room facing the harbour, otherwise you have a view of back street. The breakfast was surprising good, excellent hollandaise on the Bene and fresh OJ. The server was very old, but very old school attentive.

Been staying there since beach hotels raised prices when caught with an overnight. It's not fancy..a big hotel that is past it's prime..but we found it just fine..clean enough..good ac.. secure. Being across street and no need for another taxi ripoff ..big plus. Close to some good food in frenchtown or the greenhouse for dinner. Think you will like it for night stay vs price.

Thanks Will..I think dinner at " Epernay" will make it worthwhile..like you, we got priced out of other places..or they want a three nighter..

Having coffee there right now..rooms are very nice, refurbished and clean..not the Ritz but comfy beds etc...definitely stay here again. Had a nice dinner at "Epernay" after a fun ferry ride..I would recommend " Windward Passge"..a world diffefrent than a few years ago..

Yep..if we could just get rid of all those tourists driving around in their rental Mustangs with the tops down ( even when its cold) pointing their cell phones at every bunch of grapes it would be perfect!

Relatively reasonable and certainly convenient when the airline or ferry screws you over.

Great walking-distance restaurant: Café Amalia.
Phenomenal close-enough-to-walk-but-maybe-a-little-dicey restaurant: Oceana.

Oceana's not dicey; walking back could be a little iffy.

Excellent, one of the best meals we had in STT.

We've walked to Oceana a number of times from CYOA, and while it looks a bit dicy we've never had a problem.

Especially after a few adult beverages, later in the evening, a taxi would probably be the wisest thing...

That's a lot closer than" Windward Passage"..I would certainly walk from there once I was in Frenchtown..gets a little sketchy along the waterfront after dark..

Manpot - that's very true - it's only about 200 yards from CYOA to Oceana.

I don't remember if it was going by the name of Oceana back then, but in 1987 Debbie & I had dinner there. Great atmosphere and food and service...but I bet you wanted a more recent critique, huh?

What kind of dances did the lobsters do?
In 1982 I worked for St. Thomas Dive Club out of Villa Olga, Chart House was a great place

The reason I originally said "dicey" is that a few years ago there was a murder there, and also a robbery. The murder victim was a man who was part of a wedding party.
