BVI Dog Name?
      #1624185 - 01/09/15 05:32 PM (216.231.190.110)

Any good ideas for a name for a female golden retriever puppy that has some BVI meaning? We are getting one in a week. Already have a golden named Lola.

Sandy? Stormy? Sir Richard? Norman? Peter? Dinghy? I think I like the last one.

If it was a male I'd name him George Dog for the Dog islands.

Calling a Female dog Soggy would probably make her feel real Bitchie.
I have a cat that I thought was a female and called her Marina, then had to change the name to Marino

It's for a MALE CAT, so some things don't translate, but you might want to take a look at this thread for some suggestions.. male kitten names

On a pirate theme, more Bahamian than BVI but "Bonny" for Anne Bonny, Wife of James Bonny, mistress/first mate of Calico Jack Rackham.

The OP said they were trying to come up with a name for a female puppy, not a male kitten. Tola would be perfect, and I already have a female kitten with that name. Only problem is in the OP's case, they already have a dog named Lola, and the 2 names sound so similar, that might confuse the critters. Tola and Lola sounds good to the human ear, but maybe not to a puppy. How about Roti? Roti might be a good name for a Dachshund, but maybe not a golden.

Gee, that's what I said, that the other thread was for a male kitten, so some things didn't translate , but they should take a look at the thread.

Our Boat name is Cruzanegada (favourite rum, favourite island) and we named our Goldie, Cruzan.

Cruzan is a cool name, but there only a few of us here that like the rum brewed in St. Croix, USVI. But then again, I like Callwood's Arundel rum. I think some people here use it to light their charcoal grills because it's cheaper than lighter fluid.

Great thoughts everyone! Thanks. I think we are going to go with Tola. Lola and Tola sound good and our son likes it too. As far as the names sounding similar and being confusing, we figure when you say a dog name you emphasize the first letter and syllable a bit more so maybe that will help.
