Just thought some of you would like to see what is left of Fire Island

Check out this link which shows the before and after of Sandy. The box on the lower left is the control and you can drag it over to Fire Island or anywhere along the shoreline.

Heard that the bridge and parking lot at Smith's Point are now open. Hope to get there and see how the beach and boardwalk are, but don't know when that will be. If anyone gets there, please let us know.

Hey grocer man. That was my post, and now I'm thinking of going on Thursday if you're still cooking lunch. Turkey and trimmings??

I Would love to get down to see the new inlet, and what is left of old Inlet.Look at the pre 1900 sunken ship the Sandy exposed http://news.yahoo.com/hurricane-sandy-exposes-fire-island-shipwreck-215513409.html
This is a very busy time of the year for me.
between work (1038 more day of that)
Trying to put the house back together after Sandy.
and other family engagement
I don't see it happen till mid Dec we will see
If you do get down there please let me know how it is????

I believe the outer beach is still closed to vehicle traffic. Unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to reach it.

Smith Point parking is open.
You have to walk from there to Old Inlets.
its only about 1 1/2 miles west
