Caliente or Cypress cove
      #1476568 - 02/04/13 01:51 PM (65.27.96.207)

We will be in Florida for 10 days at the end of the month and want to spend 4 days at one of these resorts. I've read numerous reviews on-line but tend to respect this forum's opinions more then most. We are late 40s, not life-stylers but don't care what goes on around us. We are just looking for a place to relax and have some fun - with each other. Any comments would be appreciated.

Been to both and find The Cove to be the atmosphere I am most comfortable in. I prefer a family friendly atmosphere, even if there aren't kids around. The grounds are beautiful and people friendly. I hope to get there one day in July.

PM me for more details...
We spent a week in both

Cypress Cove is the winner in our book. Good restaurant, good bars, good facilities (pool, tennis, shuffle, golf and lodging), etc.

Caliente has a fancier lobby building but has a less comfortable feel in our view. Can't just go straight to pools from room, have to go through the lobby/front desk to get to bar/pools. (Can't bring a can of beer with you, even if you bought it at pool bar) They assume your smuggling. The lifestylers are there. On various nights you will be the odd ball with no clothes on.

Caliente would be fine for a daytrip to the pools if you don't mind NOT bringing your own beer/snacks.

Unless you are lookin for lifestyle, I'd go to the Cove.

I have been to both, and would love to be at either right now! If I had to choose, it would be Cyrpress. In recent years, Caliente management has become greedy and it seems to be all about the money and not the quality of service.

I think they have big mortgages to pay off for their facilties and that drives some of their decisions.

Cypress Cove for sure! Great people, excellent facilities, and an ambiance that reminds us of our "home resort", Avalon in Paw Paw, WV just west of the DC Metro area!

The Cove wins for pure relaxation plus FUN!
(Come to the Cove for Mardi Gras next Monday and Tuesday 2/11,12! There's a dance Monday night and then on Fat Tuesday there will be body painting and a parade followed by an outdoor party with great music, 50/50 drawing plus door prizes and free food!)

Thank-you for all the positive comments. The Cove it is! We will be there from Monday Feb. 25th to Thursday the 28th. maybe longer if we really enjoy it. We have a late arrival (9pm) so we will not check in until probably 10 or so. What's the activity level at that time? Also, what can we expect for dress in the late evennings. I'm assuming this depends on the temp but we don't want to be over or under-dressed. We are coming from Wisconsin where temps have been in the single digits lately......Can't wait!

They offer a first timers discount, make sure you check into that. Beings you arrive on a Monday and late, things might be fairly quiet. Just my guess though. When I was there, I went nude in the restaurants but it was summer and conducive to such attire. (just remember your towel!)

Enjoy your visit at this great property!
