New Terra Cotta Inn, Palm Springs
      #1739957 - 07/30/17 04:42 PM (24.113.138.155)

Good things do sometimes happen for us west coasters
Just spoke to Tom M. and he and Mary Clare are consulting/managing a recently (July 25th) opened C/O resort.
Twice the number of rooms as the old Terra Cotta and twice the area. New website and resort phone nr. should be up in a week or so.

hmmm-Have not seen anything in the local news or newspaper regarding the opening of a new CO hotel. In a tourist town these things normally get reported. Hope it is true. Desert Sun Resort could use some competition. Their prices have been going up steadily since TerraCotta shut down.

It is true ... The Terra Cotta is now open and has been taking guests since July 25th. Website is up. First NON Smoking nude/clothing optional resort in the US! The entire property is non smoking.

It's the previous Warm Sands Villas ... now "The Terra Cotta" ... not the Terra Cotta Inn.

Do you have a link FireProf? Searching The Terra Cotta still gets the old Terra Cotta Inn results.

Thank you. I see the owner is from Washington and states that Tom and MC are "consulting with us". Probably a very wise decision on the owner's part, Tom and MC have a very strong following.

We may give this a try, although we personally prefer the nude rule rather than c/o. We're more uncomfortable being nude when there are people around us that choose to remain clothed.

agree with you. Not sure it like the nude or C/O thing either.Would make us uncomfortable as well. Wish them all of the best.

The Terra Cotta Inn had a large following. Tom stated that their business had a conservative 75% occupancy rate, year round. We were frequent visitors for over 17 years. There were many times we called and could not get a room because they were full. Often heard the same from many of their guests and people we'd met there.

The Terra Cotta Inn was clothing optional but in all those years, and all those visits ... I can count the number of people in bathing suits (all of them women) on one hand. Many a first timer came out in a bikini, left less than an hour later and came out topless, only to emerge a couple hours later completely nude. Most first timers would say ... "there's only one way to do this ... jump in with both feet!"

There was only one couple that visited annually. He was naked all the time, his wife was not but she never ventured far from their small patio out front of their room. She never wore a bathing suit so she never ventured over to the pool or hot tub. She visited so her husband could visit. They'd stay for an entire week.

The new Terra Cotta is couples only and it's Smoke Free! The first smoke free clothing optional resort in the US. That's huge for many people that used to get smoked outta their patios at the old Terra Cotta Inn because their neighbors smoked packs a day, every day, throughout the day and night.

A lot of the same amenities like the Ol' Terra Cotta Inn. Morning continental breakfast, afternoon strawberries (in season) and wine and snacks. Same type of policies on early check in, day use and the ability to stay the day til 5pm on check out day or day use.

The ol' Terra Cotta Inn had a large following and from what I'm hearing and reading, all those customers are eager to return from places they were forced to visit because of the Terra Cotta Inn closing. I don't doubt that the new Terra Cotta will do just as well as the ol TCI and that even though it's "clothing optional", 99% ,or better, are and will always be nude.

Funny you mention the smoking at TCI, the one and only time my wife and I stayed there we were woken up the first morning by the smell of cigarette smoke in our room and the neighbor greeting his friend loudly. I think it was 7am. The loose fitting door and the arrangement with the breeze pushed all his smoke right into our room. We paid for that night but told Tom we didn't want to stay any longer. Not just because of that, but it certainly didn't help. Our room backed up to a daycare behind us and we heard happy children sounds all day long, another straw on the camel's back. We had been spoiled by the much larger grounds of DSR where we could sort of find our own more private area rather than just the pool deck.

We'll probably try the Terra Cotta, only because we like to give everything a shot, but we've yet to find a place better for us than DSR.

We changed our four days at DSR to two so we can try out the new Terra Cotta. I also like to patronize new ventures. Having options is far and few between in the c/o resort world....nice to have another place open its doors.
Now I just have to be patient for October!!!

Hi, My name is John Ruze. I am the owner of the new Terra Cotta in Palm Springs, CA. I would like to welcome everyone to our resort. Based on the advice of Tom and Mary Clare, I am calling the resort clothing optional as it is much nicer sounding and easier to book first timers. I know the original Terra Cotta Inn was the best place for first timers and our goal is to make the new Terra Cotta the best place for first timers too. As Fireprof mentioned first timers always ended up nude at the original Terra Cotta and at our new resort too. We do a good job of screening guests, so we do not get gawkers wearing clothes. The response to our opening has been over whelming. We've had guests from Canada, Australia, England, Hong Kong, and all over the US. We are rapidly gaining the reputation of being the place for nudists to vacation out west. Anyone that wants to email me with questions is more than welcome to at JohnR@hotelterracotta.com And yes, we are 100% tobacco free, so you do not have to worry about smokers sitting next to you at the pool.

Thanks John. Operating as Clothing Optional is a proven way to attract new couples to naturism.

Our family joke is that it is usually the husband who wants to make the first visit to a C/O resort...and it is the wife who keeps wanting to return!

Here right now at the Terra Cotta and really enjoying our stay. Many long time TCI patrons are returning and there have been unexpected reunions going on!

For a brand new place, John and company are doing great and I truly believe the property will continue to evolve and improve. Like the OP stated, we are very lucky to have a new option on the west coast for nude vacationing!

Glad you had a good time at TC. Fingers continue to be crossed that our paths cross one visit soon, very soon.
