Can't get photo small enough to upload
      #1578779 - 03/29/14 04:24 AM (71.218.131.22)

I have been trying to upload a new photo using "resize" in paint. Even if I reduce it to a spec, say 5x3 pixels, it is still around 32 KB. What am I doing wrong?

If you are talking about a profile photo, it might because you are trying to upload a photo in a format other than .gif, .jpg, or .png as required by the site. I recall the Paint program loves to keep things in .bmp (Bitmap) format.

No it's definitely in JPEG, but no matter how small I make it, it won't go below 32 KB.

What is the format? Maybe some of us photo geeks can help out.

Thanks for Pixlr tip. Now I have it the right size and format, 120x120, and 22 KB, but every time I try to change to the new photo, it just reverts back to old photo. It shows new photo file in the "browse" window, but when I hit submit, it reverts back to old photo. And yes I have selected the button next to the command.

Have it down to 115x115 and 8 KB, and it still won't load!

Had the same issue, the old photo kept re-appearing. As I recall I cleared the cached images in my browser and that did the trick... the new image appeared.

I was wondering about clearing the browser cache as well, but the description of where the problem occurs seems to be before final viewing. I suppose clearing the cache couldn't hurt though.

Cleared the cache in both Internet Explorer and Googlechrome and old picture still comes back.

Have you tried saving it with a new file name? Maybe the program is not overwriting the old file when saving.

Have you clicked the radio button , I want to upload a picture, first then click the browse button?

At this time you don't have any picture showing at all.

I suspect that beachlover will have his picture in place by tomorrow. It is a simply great profile picture that I know you will all like.

I had the same problem and had the pic so small I could barely see it on the screen but every time I got back a message that the pic was too big. Eventually gave up

I'm working with beachlover to try to help him upload a really great picture. He emailed the jpg to me, and I uploaded it to an online picture site. I then linked the URL to the TTOL place, and it worked perfectly. Did this instead of trying to upload the picture to TTOL.

Hopefully it will work for him when he tried it.

By the way, one nickname I have is picture geek. I took a photography course in college some 48 years ago and have been really interested in picture making and developing ever since. LOVE digital cameras.

For reasons we don't understand, beachlover has been unable to upload the picture that is now showing on my poster name.

I'm thinking this picture is so good, I may keep it for my own. That way people who don't know me will think that I'm a really fortunate guy.

With all this messing with the picture, I uploaded a picture from our 40th anniversary trip. We went back to the place where we did our honeymoon in 1969. It really was a fun and interesting thing to do.

Since the old photo pops back in every time I try to upload the new photo (even when I first remove the old photo), I wonder if I have to some how delete the old photo after removing it?

I had the same problem with the old picture coming back. I gave up too. Then a couple of days later, it just appeared out of nowhere. Was wondering if maybe something had been done on the administrative end? Good luck!

Changed some settings, but everything appeared ok, but give it another try.

I would gladly pay someone to get our picture posted. I'm not computer intelligent so I finally gave up.

I played around with this today and found out that I could not upload a picture from my computer to TTOL but rather had to link an online picture for it to work.

Can't say the upload aspect is now broken or not, but I tried several times and got the same TTOL nonsense web page.

You have never been able to do that on TTOL. The picture must always be on the web in a site like Picasa or Photo Bucket before you can do that.

OK that confirms what I experienced. However I wish that this instruction would be dropped to avoid any unnecessary effort.

Upload your photo (120x120 max pixels, may be smaller) (.gif, .jpg, .png accepted)
