US phone help
      #1590951 - 05/23/14 03:27 AM (78.136.92.143)

I will be in the states for a month. I want to have a phone (in NC) mostly for calls, but data would be great. I have an unlocked iPhone. Does any one know a company that will let me just do a month with no contract? Last year I bought a trac fone but the minutes disappeared quickly and when I tried (several times) to get on their website to see the cost of purchasing more minutes, I can not access the website. Thanks for any help/ideas

Straight talk, either on line or Walmart

I think that you have to pay an upfront fee for Straight Talk, of around $70, which doesn't make it a good choice for only a month.

Virgin Mobile. I pay $35 month, unlimited web and data plus
300 talk minutes. No contract.
Cheers

Straight talk is the way to go for only $45 for the month with no contract and no other fees, with unlimited data on the AT&T network. Here is their website: https://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/...FpPsw7Slw!/?s=y

Not if they have an unlocked mobile phone, then the sim will work. The upfront fee (equipment) is like $70 but that is for "home phone", meaning using your home equipment to plug into their box.

Try AT&T GoPhone. Prepaid service. Can buy sim for many diff phones. I think $60/30 days with unlimited talk & text and 5? gigs of data. If you use free Wi-Fi hotspots it does not count toward data use. Other plans available. They are on line, so check there. Good luck.

Whats wrong with track phone? We have one, and can buy minutes in a lot of places. Walmart is one... I think its the best way to go, as you can buy as many you need. We buy 100 but you can buy much less...

Patty, I bought a Metro PCS phone a few years ago and use it whenever we're in the US. It costs us $28 to reactivate the phone when we arrive and then $25 per month thereafter.

AT&T uses phones with sim cards. They have a program I believe is GoPhone?
Tracfone also uses a sim card.
Good Luck.
