Questions about Reef Resort on the East End of GC
      #1185008 - 07/24/10 12:53 PM (75.220.199.193)

1. Is the beach all sand or is there some hard shore?

2. From the hotel website it looks like a lot of coral right off the shore; looks great. Is this really mostly reef or a lot of turtle grass? Looks like reef to me.

Thanks in advance.

The beach itself is mainly sand. As you enter the water you can encounter some hard shore in some places. There is plenty of sandy area to swim in. The dark areas right off the beach are turtle grass. The actual reef is a several hundred yard swim and getting to it would be for advanced swimmers only. It is a beautiful well maintained resort with a really nice beach. There is great snorkeling down the road a piece at Queen's monument. You have to swim out about a hundred yards but snorkeling there is well worth the easy drive and swim.

There is some coral just off the beach, but as Mahlon advised the better snorkeling is located at Barefoot Beach and Queen's Monument/Connolly's Cove
