West of Smith Point Long Island (Cont'd)
      #1186667 - 07/29/10 12:42 AM (96.246.142.226)

I thought about what Ms. Carol Hill said and realized that in fact, it was not a smart idea to post any personal information. Therefore, I decided to throw everyone off and try my nude "experiment" today, rather than Friday. I drove from my home to Patchogue and took the 8:45 ferry that got me to Watch Hill. I got onto the ferry in flip-flops and a bikini. Trying to ride the ferry butt naked would be too obvious, hee hee. Once I arrived at Watch Hill, I tipped the ferry crew and started walking towards Smith Point. After approximately 15-20 minutes of walking, I found that not a soul was in sight. I removed my flip-flops and stripped off my bikini. I threw everything into my drawstring bag and began jogging. At this point, it was 10:29, and until 11:24, (ALMOST AN HOUR!) I did not see any people on the beach.(I know this because I checked my cell phone.) At this point, I was only about two miles in. (It is extremely difficult to run in the sand!) However, I had an outstanding pace going, and I did not want it to end. Therefore, I proceeded to cover myself up as best I could without having to put my clothes back on. I realized that it was three girls tanning TOPLESS, so I wasn't the only one "breaking the rules." After another 35 minutes of jogging at a slower pace, my feet were on fire and my breasts were hurting. It was incredibly hot today! Even worse, I REALIZED THAT I WASN'T EVEN HALF WAY TO SMITH POINT! I jumped in the water and relaxed for a good 20-25 minutes. The next time I checked my phone, it was 12:35. I was having a blast, and better yet, I was doing it in the nude. I stopped jogging altogether and walked for another two miles. I KID YOU NOT, two park rangers in a pickup truck passed me by at about 50 MILES PER HOUR! ON THE BEACH! If there were actually any people on the beach, they would have been crushed. They clearly saw me but said absolutely nothing. I think one of them waved but I'm not sure. Anyway, my point is, there are other people on the beach who are doing "illegal things" that are worse than me running around naked. The PARK RANGERS were committing actions that were far more detrimental to the existence of the nude beach than I was. I made it a little over half way to Smith Point, but I was too exhausted and dehydrated to continue. It was 2:15, and I was ready to head back. However, I was SO TIRED that I threw down my drawstring bag, lied down in the sand, and fell asleep. YES! ASLEEP! I was close enough to some trees that I was able to relax in the shade. Even then, sleeping naked on the beach, no one said anything. NO ONE! That's because there is absolutely no one around except for a handful of birds. I'm not sure why this land is completely deserted, but it is absolutely perfect for recreational nudity. I DIDN'T WAKE UP until 2:50 (It may have been the greatest nap I ever took, aside from the sand in my butt cheeks, lol.) I started heading back at a leisurely pace and everything was going great. I knew that the last ferry left at 715 (or so I thought), and I planned on taking my time and grabbing a bite to eat before heading back to Patchogue on the 715 ferry. Because I had jogged/walked more than 5 miles to smith point, my return trip was going to be a lengthy one. After walking for about a mile, I stopped to dip my feet in the water and check on a mosquito bite that had appeared on my thigh. Still nobody in sight. NONETHELESS, THANK GOODNESS I STOPPED. I had printed out the ferry schedule the night before and thrown it in my drawstring bag. When I double checked the schedule, I noticed that the 715 ferry back to Patchogue was only available on FRIDAY!!! TODAY WAS WEDNESDAY! The last ferry left at 545! It was 3:45 and I still had like 4 miles left! I PANICKED. I REALIZED THAT MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION BACK TO PATCHOGUE WAS THE FERRY! I had to start running again. Luckily, my adrenaline kicked in and I was able to run 2 miles in under an hour. However, at 430, I was absolutely BEAT! At this point, I had passed a couple of people (about 5) who were lying on beach towels but didn't see me. I WAS STILL NAKED! NO ONE SAID ANYTHING! Once again my feet were red as a rose and my breasts were in pain. I could see a pretty decent crowd of people in the distance and didn't want to risk it. I put my bikini on and kept trudging along. I think I miscalculated how far I was from the ferries because I WALKED there in a little under an hour. It was 5:20 and I had 20 minutes to just relax. I lost my flip-flops, so I boarded the ferry barefoot (oh, well) and headed home. In retrospect, this was the greatest experience of MY LIFE! IT WAS SO FREEING! I was completely naked, from head to toe, from 10:30-4:30, roughly. That's 6 hours of complete nudity. 5 people saw me and said nothing. I passed another 5 who didn't even see me. The point that I'm trying to make is that recreational nudity is no big deal as long as you do it in private. It doesn't necessarily have to be on a "clothing optional" beach. I did nothing to endanger CO beaches. I will CERTAINLY do this again sometime soon. I encourage you to try this at least once. I had done this 3 times before, but it was never this much FUN!!!!!

Well, big deal... You got away with it......
Girls being topless on the beach is not illegal, but you were. And what did you expect the group on beach towels to say????

You were lucky. You saw two rangers who didn't give you a hard time. They could very well have taken your sighting info back to their supervisor. Just another notch against us. Your bragging (in such detail) didn't impress me.

Pauline, I couldn't agree more!
Kristina has to start to understand the potential damage she can be doing to nudity in the area...

I have seen a lot of people take deserted beach areas and use them as their own private nude beaches. While I believe in being nude and enjoy it immensely, I wouldn't advise it unless you are familiar with that area. There is no doubt about it, you were very lucky that no one gave you a hard time, but again it makes things that much more difficult for naturists to have an area in which to enjoy themselves. Unfortunately, social nudity is still not fully embraced by many people and those very same people will argue against naturist beaches and areas to practice nudism. Please be careful and respect the rules of these areas.
I understand and fully embrace your pleasure of being naked and you enjoy the freedom of not wearing clothes. I do too. However, you want to be a nudist, not an exhibitionist. Just be careful and remember that nudists like yourself face much intolerance from others because of our beliefs about social nudity. If you enjoy recreational nudity on the beach, do it where it is accepted. Just FYI, running naked is not good for your breasts and it can be painful. Try a lower impact exercise like yoga if you insist on exercising in the nude. Much as I like to be nude, my wife and I know when you run, certian parts need support. Hence a sports bra for women and a jock strap for men.
By the way, I'd like to throw this out there if anyone can help. My wife and I are planning a weekend getaway to Smiths Point. My questions are, what is the male to female ratio on the beach. I don't want my wife to feel she is the only naked female surrounded by males. Is it a couple-oriented beach, and is it similar to Lighthouse where people are in close proximity of one another or is it more spread out. I know that the beach is cordened off and the area is limited to nudists. But if anyone can help me with these questions via the board or by PM it would help. Thanks everyone.

I understand that running naked is not good for my breasts, but it feels so darn good. Because my breasts bounce up and down, I usually hold them up after they start to ache.

Never been to the area in question but I would be very concerned for my safety being nude and alone in this or any other area. Lots of bad guys out there.

Whatever "halfwindy," you obviously have no idea what you're talking about because you live out in east bumblef**k, also known as Wisconsin. You have likely never been to Fire Island, so you have no idea how secluded some areas can be. Have a nice day.

Halfwindy--I have a tendency to agree with you. This story is beginning to sound more and more like what one would read in a men's magazine. Sorry, Kristina, I'm not buying it.
