Hey everyone, I just saw that this thread has been continued. I want to clear one thing up that is very important to me. In absolutely no way was I trying to slander the place, make any type of boycot, or even give it a bad name! This is precicely why i was so hesitant to post it for the 9 months after my visit!

I entitled my thread "My Anegada Experience" because it was just that! I think we were there on a not so great day, some bad things happen, but I harbor no ill feelings. I was hoping to as Walker stated "influence positive changes"

I have admired and respected the love everyone has for the BVI and Im sorry if it appears I was trying to lead a movement!! I am excited to go back to have my perfect Anegada Experience! Thanks all!

No worries, Patrick. In Oct., we'll all head to Anegada together and go to Cow Wreck for the day, and everything will be Irie, Mon!

I love the Cow Wreck. We haven't had dinner there but we've had drinks and lunch and all were fine. What's funny is that last year we almost left without paying the tab. We realized shortly before we were leaving and drove over to pay it before getting on the ferry. To think of it now I'm sure we would have gotten away with it if we had been that sort of people but we’re not.

Reading all of these posts just makes me think that a good person had a bad day. Life in paradise can't be easy all of the time and you'll never know what it was that she had experienced that day prior to your visit. Yes we think that people in the service industry need to remain professional at all times but that's not realistic. Give her the benefit of the doubt. There's enough positive post on TTOL to negate a bad experience and that’s not to say that it didn’t happen because I’m sure it did. Sometimes I feel I have to go the extra mile to get the people working in the service industry in the BVI to smile back at me but I’m okay with it. They’re sharing their beautiful surroundings with me and I’m just happy to be there.

I am a newbie to this forum but some of you were very helpful to me (maybe I should add kind and patient!!) when I was planning our first trip to the BVI's this past April. I had wanted to go to Anegada for years and we had a very nice couple of days there before moving on to VG. In that time, we had lunch one day at CW- we were the only 2 souls there and it was absolute heaven- my husband was exhausted from travelling all day the previous day and he fell asleep in a lounge chair after lunch and stayed there undisturbed for more than an hour. When we first arrived, Ricky (?), about 4 years old and I presumed him to be the grandchild of the lady running the place, climbed up on a barstool beside my husband with a deck of cards and my husband, sweet and patient soul who never had a child that age (mine from a previous marriage he inherited at age 15- probably much worse than 4), played some made-up Ricky version of cards for about 45 minutes or more while we ordered and waited for food- he had fish tacos and it was absolutely full of bones but he said it was very tasty- I think I had a cheeseburger or something and I am actually the one who loves fish tacos! Regardless, the food was just not important- the setting, the view, the water, the rest (a couple of rum drinks didn't hurt for me but he does not drink) was wonderful.
We heard later that day that it was very surprising for the place to be deserted- we went back for lunch the next day just to enjoy the place again. A truck was dropping off a group of about 6 20-somethings with snorkel bags who went straight to the water. We went to the bar and looked at the menu. After a few minutes, another couple who were sitting there said they had been there for about 45 minutes and had seen no help at all- we waited a little longer then left and went to the Anegada Reef. On the road on the way out we passed Belle (I think?) with Ricky in the truck headed back to CW. Later that night at Neptunes, where we were staying, we saw that other couple and asked if they ever got lunch.
I guess my point is that I am around the same age and cannot imagine the stress of trying to deal with children or what I supposed to be grandchildren and run a small one cook restaurant- the day we ate there she seemed to be running herself ragged. The place is magical- the drinks were cold- I love to eat but the food was totally unimportant that day (and would have been the other day as well if we had eaten).
I write this because when I was planning my trip I read that horrible diatribe/rubbish that dissatisfied person wrote on TA trashing the place. I don't want any other "first timers" to miss this gorgeous one-of-a-kind spot. I can see perfectly that the original post happened exactly as described and I would have been equally disappointed- I just think others who said "drinks and maybe lunch" are correct in their advice.
I would be back in a heart beat if only I could....

We didn't make it to Cow Wreck on this trip - next time - but we did make it to Big Bamboo and Ceon was just the best host ever!

I will say...I liked my Anegada lobster at Sydney's better ;) but it was still a yummy lunch and the beer was cold - and Ceon gave us a round because he said "you people from California are much more laid back than some of the other people who come here!" We liked that

These 2 threads have gone off the illusionary road of self-importance, which is pretty common here. We all know who we are who have been to Cow Wreck and, even if we've had a bad knock here and there, we'll keep going or already have gone back. For those who haven't been and are gonna boycott CWB, or who are expecting an apology for something they didn't experience, all I have to say is "Nobody cares what you think!" I know this is a blow to the hot air posters here, but it's time to just give it a rest and let Cow Wreck just be what it is.
This isn't a knock against Skyhawk either. I'm one that told him to tell about his experience at CWB on TTOL.

We have had many great afternoons at Cow Wreck for lunch and drinks. Food and service always wonderful. Its my favorite spot in the BVIs. Can't wait to go back.

It has been many years since I've been to Anegada and I have never been to Cow Wreck, but it is on my list. I appreciate the caution Skyhawk used in first delaying the posting and also the care he took to describe one experience without an across-the-board bashing. His original post is a description of one bad day. There have been equally discriptive posts of perfect days. I have been to the BVI often enough (16X) to know island time. Some of the charm is forcing us to scale back our expectations and live in the moment. I don't discount that Skyhawk had a bad experience, but I do respect that he seems willing to give CW another try - maybe just not for dinner.
I am sure by now the voice of TTOL has been heard loud and clear at CW and they will do their best to improve. It will be up to us to give them the benefit of the doubt.
