Just thought I'd share this with the forum members. There's an article on naturism in the December issue of Marie Claire magazine. The article is written by a woman for women. In it, she states her first time going au natural out in California and how she hesitated and reacted to being nude in a public venue the first time. She goes on to say how she began to develop an affinity for being naked in public and citing her trip to a nude beach (though she doesn't say which) with her boyfriend to Fire Island. I found the article well written and informative. The article focuses on the fears women may have the first time experiencing public nudity because of concerns about having the "body" for it. The author places an emphasis on body acceptance and how she was worried about maintaining an attractiveness to her boyfriend while being around others. I don't wish to start another debate about choice, but I know there are guys out there who have hesitant spouses and girlfriends when it comes to being at a nude or clothing optional beach. This is a good article in a "mainstream" womens magazine. Something you might want to show to a hesitant partner IMHO.

Every story has an opposite. There was one this week. We traveled 4 hours to a very nice resort. It was a direct walk from our front door to the Caribbean. Even with some clouds and a passing sprinkle it was one of the best experiences ever. Being off season the place was deserted except for one other couple. It seemed kind of odd that they were away from such a wonderful place so much of the day. No matter, that fantastic beach, a book and a few adult beverages soon captured the vibe we were searching for.
It soon became evident that the wife half of the other couple wasn't at all comfortable with nudity. As a matter of fact she outright avoided it. She drove hundreds of kilometers to find excuses to be away from the resort. "I want my own band aid for my toe." Everything was fine at meals (cover ups required) but this woman went to extraordinary measures to stay away during daylight hours. It was also obvious that she would close the drapes covering the glass front of their lodging so as to not accidentally catch a glimpse of a naked person strolling on the beach. Her husband was excepted from this rule. He could come and go as he pleased, naked as the day he was born.
The last day of our stay, after breakfast, we asked to settle our bill and bar tab. I went to the room to get cash and returned without a wrap. Observing my approach this lady jumped from the table in mid sentence, RAN out the door and desperately circled the building to avoid being in the presence of a naked man.
We spent the entire ride home (4 Hours) trying to figure out why she would consent to stay 6 days in a naturist resort in the first place? Her actions seemed bizarre and disturbed. Her speech patterns were clipped and rambling. We still don't know what they were doing there. She wasn't having any fun and she was making him miserable. The owner was totally professional, he said nothing but shrugged his shoulders.

She probably was not "eased" into it. My wife was extremely hesitant our first trip to SXM and kept her suit on at all the SXM beaches. Second trip she would skinny dip at the far side of Pinel and Petite Caye. Third trip Cupecoy and Club O beach late afternoon. now she is comfortable on the Club o beach all day as well as drinks at the Perch and talking to people. Still, she is not ready to stay at a C.O resort.

For those who want to start with naturism it's always better to find some secluded beaches or small private resorts. Here is some good info. Susan

The link works with me, but you can just google: "world naturist sites". You're gonna see it as the first search result. Susan

Some of these articles on female nudism have to be filtered through the prism of what the writer's prime objective is. Many of these female writers push every stereotypical nudist button when depicting their first trip to a clothing-optional beach, resort or nudist gathering.
Here is an article on nudist dining by a author with a background in comedy writing. Long time posters may recognize a name (Richard) mentioned in this article as a contributor to this website. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2008/11/11/hold-the-dressing.html
