preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn
out, shouting, "...Holy Chit...What a Ride!"

Fire Island has always been considered temporary by Mother Nature...
I believe the inlet between the East End of Smith Point Park & Moriches Bay was opened up during Hurricane Donna in 1960...

It doesn't look good for the summer of 2013 for either Lighthouse Beach or Sandy Hook. Smith Point may be the only "nekkid" beach (on the ocean) in the north east!!!

What a mess!! Hopefully, the feds will be able to help and use the Army Corps of Engineers to rebuild the beaches at Fire Island as well as th Rockaways by next summer. Please keep us updated.

I believe that Moriches Inlet was formed during the hurricane of 38. It is now twice as wide from Sandy.

Many, Many homes on Westhampton Beach were destroyed in the Ash Wednesday Storm (a nor'easter) in 1962... never to be rebuilt...

I love the ocean and intracoastal barrier islands up the entire US coast. I have been on the verge of buying something for 20 years but I have never pulled the trigger because I know this stuff happens.

Between and insurance and govt help I always fear my storm will be the one where both tell me your on your own dummy for buying there.

Water is powerful and I think those that choose to live and work there need to make allowances for these unlikely likely events and not expect everybody to rebuild their risky paradise.

Codes should require being built on pilings that make these surges noting but a temporary nuiscance instead of total structure devestation.

Sorry -- not trying to offend. But this will not be the last big storm with high winds and high storm surge.
