Check out the BVI forum. Lots of talk there about GoPro.

Which model do you have, as I have the 3+. Get lots of batteries and memory cards, along with all the extra mounts. I also purchased a headstrap for the camera and a wrist strap for the wifi remote. Have you figured out what you want to do with it yet?

I plan on wearing mine while going parasailing in October.

Thanks, I will check that thread out!

I have the 3+ and already have a few mounts and extra battery, memory card, chesty (still laughing on that one), floaty. It was a gift and I have no idea what I want to do with it yet, but I am sure that I will find plenty!!!! Too bad I didn't have this on the zip line with me a couple years ago-as I dangled my camera all through the course trying to get a few shots (although they did turn out pretty well if I must say so! lol)

Congrats! My suggestion is to start that learning curve well before going on that trip where you *need* good video from it.

Experiment with different mounting options. Not sure what your use is going to be but one of the great things about the GoPro is the fact that you can mount it in interesting places to get different perspectives. Mount, shoot, try another mounting position.

The GoPro is very good at getting up close shots of people. Don't be afraid to get closer than you normally would with a "regular" camera.

Make sure you understand the different video options (frame rate/resolution).

Practice editing your video (assuming you are shooting video - if just stills then, well, ignore this). Once you learn how to edit, it will change the way you shoot the video in the fist place. You will begin to shoot your video with an eye to how it could be used in an edited video. Shoot video with the knowledge that you will throw away (figuratively) *most* of it once you get in the editor. And, as a corollary, shoot way more video than you think you will need.

Check your lens periodically to make sure it's clean (since you can't see what you are getting until later (unless you have an LCD back of course)).

Have fun!

I was hoping you would reply. It was your suggestion that got me looking at the GoPro to begin with. Well that and the video you posted a while back. I had saved the thread that had the link, but that post is gone now. Would you mind posting (or pm) again? My husband was telling me about the "wand" and I thought you had used it in your video. Wanted to show him.

And yes, I agree that I may have a bit of practicing/editing to do! Should be fun.

Kate
