New travel delay insurance that might be useful.

Berkshire Hathaway Travel has a new $25 policy that pays for delays and lost luggage. $50 for a 2 hour delay, $500 for a missed connection plus any change fees and $1,000 for a tarmac delay or lost luggage. Only good as far as SJU or STT right now but international in the next month or so. They monitor your flight and automatically credit your bank account. No need to place a claim. Now if they would just cover ferry delays......

...if they covered ferry delays in the BVI, they would be out of business in two months!!

Have to say though, I personally wouldn't buy JUST that type of insurance. Travel insurance which covers trip interruption, baggage delay, trip cancellation, medical insurance and medical evac (which I will NOT travel to the Caribbean any more without medical evac), can be had for a week for around $125 or so, depending on how much money you're actually covering. You can get pricing and compare coverages from a bunch of different companies by clicking on TTOL sponsor Insure my Trip link here . It doesn't cost YOU any extra if you click on that link, versus going direct to their webpage, but TTOL gets a small commission.

A friend of mine from the U.K. had this baggage delay/loss travel insurance and when he and girlfriend arrived in St. Martin his baggage didn't. He was happy and we ended up going shopping for designer polo shirts on Front Street with his GBP400 for baggage delayed more than 4 hours. A delay of 24H would have netted him 1000GBP (we were going to sail from St. Martin to the BVI) and we were having dinner in Grand Case about 23 hours or so into his delay when a courier brought his luggage straight into the restaurant - he was a bit bummed that it couldn't have arrived just an hour later...
Considering how often my luggage makes more frequent flier miles than I do, I think I might opt for that type of insurance!

As I said, doesn't cost the user any more than going straight to Insure my Trip link.
