Hopefully the last....
      #1609689 - 10/14/14 06:39 PM (72.83.250.161)

Hopefully hurricane Gonzalo is the last storm of the season, can I get an amen?!! I am making my first ever blue water passage to the Bahama's in just 2 weeks and I would like an uneventful weather pattern!

Last week I was happy to find this display at a Maryland liquor store, this will help settle my nerves for a while

By mid November I would not worrry as much about a hurricane in front of you as a front behind you.

I will continue to convince myself that we will have 4-5 days of high pressure, 15-20 knot winds coming from the east and perhaps 3-4 foot seas..........

Rick, with a decent weather window the crossing is very easy and quite beautiful if you do a night passage. The sunrise is amazing. I have done the passage many times. Generally it is a beam reach and a nice roll, have fun.

I've heard great things about clear star filled nights and awesome sunrise/sunsets during off shore sailing, that is a main draw for me. I hope to see several, maybe 3 or 4 amazing sunrises during our Portsmouth Virginia non stop to Marsh Harbor trip. Evan is it getting cold in the Rockies?

Rick, see if you can pull the +/- 4:00 to 7:00 A.M. watch. After doing more than a dozen of those crossings that’s the time that makes it all worthwhile. If I had the time I’d volunteer @ N/C just to do it again. Sometimes even with planning you get the sh!t kicked out of you but the sunrises are worth it. If you say “Pretty Please” you might get the “Professor” Glen A to help you pick a good crossing and trip window. Relax and have a great trip.

we were given a watch schedule, but names were not included ...thanks for the tip I'll be sure to ask for the sunrise watch! I think the sleep cycle is going to be my main adjustment, we have 6 hour watches during day light and 4 hours at night.
