Sorry Sir Richard, but I do expect the 2.6 billion will dry some tears.

But he only gets 18%, which is less than $500,000,000

500 million is just a rounding error for him.

Will Sir Richard lose his private Virgin jets because of this? Just curious.

This was only the sale of Virgin America, not Virgin Atlantic, so I'd say no.

Branson was only allowed to own a part of Virgin America because its a US company and he's a Brit..still sure he made $$$$..enough to keep those jets and buy up even more of North Sound (stay tuned).

Branson has been rumored to be cash poor. He sold half of Virgin Atlantic to a Far East airline. Those shares were then purchased by Delta for only 300 million. Delta is now effectively controlling VA and made significant changes in their route structure. They have shifted the focus from worldwide to UK to US routes. He once said he would never sell anything. Take note that he did not oppose the sale before it was completed and did not vote his shares no. In addition Virgin America put itself on the market, a decision made at the board level where he certainly had a large influence. Not a peep from him until he had cash in hand!

What is Delta going to do about all those good looking Virgin flight attendants?
