Solarbear for me, it was less costly than some and is perfect for our charter needs, it is completely waterproof inside. Some are also waterproof outside but would be good for applications where you are worried about staining the outside.

I got a Solar Bear 48pk and an orange nylon backpack cooler.
I envision the backpack cooler will have some interesting adventures... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

We carry on the 24 and check the 48. If you want extra protection for a checked bag we have found that the 24 fits nicely into a Pelican 1610 hard sided case. Also, keep in mind that the weight of the 48 can get pretty high so make sure you are still within your airlines allowances to avoid additional charges.

Just curious how much the backpack carries?

Definately more.

We have a backpack model and used it on one vacation. I am sure we had at least a 12 pack, with ice, a couple sandwiches and some wine in it. The backpack has a tall, flat design. Call polar bear and ask about capacity, their customer service is excellent.

+1 for carrying on the 24 and checking the 48. The 24 we packed into a roller for a week on STJ. We've done both carry on and check for the 48. Both coolers are excellent. We've had the 48 for 3 years and many trips, plus summers on the home boat. It's very durable!

Old thread. I've been avoiding the forum for a few months to alleviate DIF. But, I've had the backpack for 2+ years and will confirm holds around 20/24 cans with adequate ice. Frankly, it was a gamechsnger for me. Our lake house is a bit of a downhill hoof to our dock. If it's just my wife, son and I the BP is perfect and makes the stroll so, much, easier.

Bought two 48s for Christmas on the 2-4-1 deal. One for me, one as gift for son. Great deal.

Has anyone had problems bringing steaks into the BVI due to hoof and mouth disease? Its a question on the customs form. We were hoping to bring some frozen steaks with us.
