Well so much for the little secluded beach called Happy Bay. Seems that the ruined condo restoration and the grass clearing was not that at all. It is prep for a 4 day festival to be held on the beach. They are just securing the condos from festival goers.

I will try and post a link to both the original article and a partial google translation

[edit by Carol Hill.. That did not work. Please try again, without the translation..]

Hmmm...trying again

Happy Bay
We are proud to be able to use it and present the beauty of this place. It is an incomparable showcase for the island. In addition we are cleaning, parking, cutting poison trees, picking up garbage, securing ruined buildings and even refurbishing the little beach bar. In short, we will leave a Happy Bay brand new for all!
We anticipate an audience of about 4,000 people, both local and international. We are moving towards this figure since we sold twice as many passes as last year at the same time. The problem is the limited number of hotel rooms on the French side. We hope to attract foreign capital to invest in the island.

Note: festival is in multiple areas not just Happy Bay. I assume the 4000 includes all areas.

A couple more random pics..one showing what's going on at the old Gourmet Marche and the other a wake-up-in-the-morning pic of a disappearing rainbow

[Linked Image]

They are surrounding the existing building with a cinder block wall leaving the original exterior as is...for now

All your photos have been great but the rainbow shot is drop dead gorgeous. TY for sharing it. I've never known why but we seem to notice so many more rainbows on the island than we do here at home. Again, TY!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

The second time it worked. Thanks. That is the electronic festival that they had started last year.

I wonder if there will now be a permanent access to Happy Bay from the Grand Case area.

I don't know, was there something in the article that talked about road access? I didn't do a translation on the whole thing. And not sure what they were talking about, refurbishing a beach bar? It's been a while since I've been there, but I don't remember there being any structures closer to the beach, than those ruined condos..

Dany has a wooden beach bar near the beach where he cooks and serves drinks.

I too did not translate but if I read correctly dates looked like March 17-19. If so guess we'll hit traffic on way to GCBC.

Dany (one "n") is at Cupecoy. Assuming you mean Danny at Happy Bay.
