We are bringing a number of items from home that we will use and/or being leaving behind and wanted to pack a box. However, American's website states boxes can't be used to the Caribbean. We have status so there is no fee.
Anyone have suggestions besides bringing an extra suitcase?

Have you called AA and actually talked to an agent regarding this? They make the rules and will have the final call.

If you're going to leave the items behind, why don't you just leave them behind in the extra suitcase you're taking? Not sure what the advantage is of a box over a suitcase anyway?

You could go to GOODWILL and bye a used suitcase for five bucks. Just throw it away when you're done with it.

Duffle bag or some other type of soft-sided bag? Folded, it won't take up much space on the way home?

I always take a water proof duffle loaded with frozen foods etc then I use it for diving and on the beach. When I return home its loaded with dirty cloths and shoes and any other soft stuff. All else goes in the hard suit cases. Like my booze <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. We are hoping to do carry-on for our trip home. Soft side duffle might work.
