Just looking at prices for our trip next in May. May 5 to June 2, United Economy Plus $2,045.97 for 1 person. Delta 1st Class for 2, $2,127. We have been flying United for 32 years and it looks like time to change. United is getting to be a rip off in many ways <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/usflag.gif" alt="" />

I feel your pain. My wife and I fly down every year in March. Right now United is $3,200 for the two of us.

I haven't flown Delta in years. Usually fly AA and on occasion United to SXM. United's prices are out of this world. AA and Delta are pretty much the same.

What the he!! happened to United?? Out of sight ticket prices because they are paying out law suits for their rotten handling of passengers? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif" alt="" />

You would think they would come down or at least be competitive with all the bad publicity they have been getting.

United used to be great when they were Continental. Now, IMHO, they suck. We are usually Delta 461 from JFK because they are usually a bit less and I am a Delta AMEX card holder so my bags fly free. This year Jet Blue was less even with paying for bags so JBU 787 it is. The times are almost identical so it became $$

We fly Delta every year and have been happy with the service. We have not had any problems other then weather leaving Detroit. We will continue to fly Delta in the future. Hope this helps.

We go thru Atlanta. Usually a 2 hour layover is good on the way home (customs), might get by with 1:30 if all goes well, traveling in high season in February

What airport are you trying to fly out of, those fares look outrageous. We us usually fly from a small regional airport, Grand Junction, DFW, MIA, SXM on AA for about $1200 for first class.

Since they are not that far from EWR I would assume that's their starting point. I originally thought that maybe the prices were high because it was a bit early for booking but when I went back month after month it seemed to be consistently high.

I did compare the my same dates in January that are $457 from BOS against leaving from EWR and United has a $534 R/T N/S both ways...so maybe it's the dates/season that
is the issue

We've always taken United (and Continental before that). Last year the fares were the highest ever. This year we snagged fares that were $1100 each, first class, round trip. Last years were $1500.

We just bought flights on United for two for next February and paid less than $800.00 for two round trips. Friends also did the same. Just because the United CEO is a loose cannon when he has a reporter questioning him, doesn't effect service.
