Pretty sure you are towards the bridge from where Azure is located. I have walked that area many times and only recall seeing sea urchins very near the bridge. The beach can change with the conditions and there are usually rocks/boulders under a lot of the sand in many areas.
If you have not committed, you might check out The Horny Toad. Beach is nice and it is very near Azure and I know the beach is nice in that area. No pool and no TV in the rooms but a nice place that is very comfortable.

I think you will be ok. It is located where I thought it was then, if not, just take a short walk up/down the beach and you will find a nice area. Simpson Bay Beach really is a nice stretch. It runs from the bridge all the way to the airport and has some really nice stretches and is usually fairly calm.

As I stated earlier, there are rocks/boulders under the sand in many places. Have you ever seen Maho with no sand? It comes and goes all over the island.

As you said, JD, if the person was originally interested in Azure, not sure why they wouldn't consider Horny Toad, except for the no TV situation, which to me would be kind of a big deal. I'm not specifically familiar with the sand situation in front of La Siesta, but you are right, that sand comes and goes in many places. Some places there is basically never great sand, like along a good part of Burgeaux Bay, or down in the Coral Shores area, which is, ahem, coral. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
I'm moving this part of the thread to a new subject, so that people who are familiar with La Siesta will respond, who might not read this thread, because it is about Azure..

Thanks. Yes, the conversation kind of "drifted" away from Azure.

No problem, I just wanted to make sure that people that had direct information on La Siesta would see the thread. And I'm with you on the problem with no TV. We're not big on nightlife anymore either.
