Which beaches would you recommend for the day. We haven't been on the island for about 6 yrs. but before that every yr. for 7.

We used to spend a day or two on Orient because of the choices but I don't think that will happen this yr.

Might also take a day trip to Shoal Bay. One of our favorites. There used to be a barbecue p[lace there run by a older women.

Does anyone know if it's still there?

I love Shoal Bay on Anguilla and possibly, the place you were thinking of was Gwen’s Reggae Bar which is still on Shoal but in a different location because of beach erosion at the original location behind what was the Allamanda Beach Resort. It’s been a few years since we’ve stayed there and I’m not certain of their status either.

We stay in the Mullet/Cupecoy general area and it saddens me greatly to see all the damage in both Maho and at Cupecoy. My first choice beach is always Mullet Bay although Simpson Bay Beach and Friars are both big favorites. There are still lots of restaurants in both areas (and more coming back with each week that passes so i’ve been told...) and the casino in Maho is under major reconstruction as are the hotels in that location. I don’t believe there’s been any major repair efforts made yet at the Starz(formerly Atlantis) Casino.

Enjoy your trip - we postponed our last November and this March trips and like so many, we can’t wait to return. We’re hoping for 3-4 weeks in the Fall.

Respectfully,

pat
