Anyone come across this super catamaran last week in BVI. The captain is either a moron who has no understanding of COLREGS or figures that since he is 'sailing" a multi million dollar yacht the rules do not apply to him.
Last week we were under full sail, starboard tack going by the Baths. Sailing was awesome and we were going along at about 7.5kn on a 47 mono. This piece of work comes out of the Baths heading under power, toward Trellis and nearly runs us down. I have him full visual, no question he sees me, but never attempt to change course, we need to bear off 90 degrees to avoid collision.
Two days later he's at anchor in Anegada, right in the middle of the channel, obscuring the the bouys for those who were exiting the anchorage. Too bad it wasnt US flagged, would have filed a complaint. Unbelievable.

Wow just Googled it. 145 feet! That thing is massive. If this is the boat you're talking about, looks pretty easy to find a place/person to lodge your complaint! I would guess judging by the looks of this boat, pure arrogance was a factor!

The problem is who do you complain to? Not US flagged otherwise I would have with USCG, but appeared to be Cayman, pretty sure they are not going to get all worked up over it

Doesn’t surprise me in the BVI.
The ferries don’t respect the rules either, the best thing to do is sail defensively and ignore the ignorant.

Number 1 rule of the road in the BVI is don’t collide. Did you try and hail them on the VHF to coordinate the miss? Over the years I have seen more bad behavior out of crewed boats especially anchoring on coral then any other boating segment.

Go to the website and e mail who books her..tell them you will be talking about their "dangerous" captain all over the I /net..not sure some multi millionaire would want their name linked, through a charter they paid for, with a captain who sunk a boat. That is pretty bad PR and usually gets some attention ( note I worked in Hollywood in the media for 35 years).
