We will be returning to SXM after a five hiatus in July of 2019.( our last trip was cancelled due to Irma) We are considering renting a villa with another couple for our next trip and looking for recommendations from the forum. We generally spend our beach time on OB but like the night life in the Simpson Bay area. In the past we have done split stays, staying 4 days in Simpson Bay, and 4 days in Orient Village. This has worked well in the past for us. Looking for suggestions for nice lodging with pool, 2BR's, and ocean view. C/O friendly prefrerred but not a deal killer. Budget is 200-300 day or even a little more for the right place. We are so looking forward to planning this trip and reuniting with these friends we met there on our last trip. Greatly appreciate your replies.

Bill--I was going to suggest Beachside, but I wasn't sure whether he was asking for a stand-alone villa? Can't go wrong with Beachside, for sure!

Hmmmm, unless the OP is looking for a stand alone property such as a private villa, I'm thinking most of the typical accommodations including BSV and the various timeshare properties are not typically c/o friendly on the Dutch side, nor are many of the beaches. The only one that really comes to mind is Cupecoy. I think there are some lovely condos there that might be just want the OP is looking for but I'm not sure if the condos themselves are c/o. Not exactly Simpson Bay but close enough with a fairly easy drive.

Respectfully,

pat

My impression is that they are looking for a private 2 br villa with a pool.

Yes. That was mentioned. The villa we stayed in had a pool but was filled in and tiled over. Owner is thinking about resurrecting it again. I've often entertained the possibilities of turning lmne into a big flower garden but days like we are having now in the Seattle area always change my mind.

Hey All,

Thanks so much for the replies! Just found out there may be a third couple so definitely looking for a stand alone villa. Right now, I'm thinking something in the Dawn Beach area since it is located halfway between OB and SB areas. Still open to other options if the price and accomodations are right. The perfect place would be 3 BR 3Ba with pool, hot tub, and outdoor showers. Yes, we prefer C/O, but wonder if a C/O designation really matters if the property is private enough. Thinking 400-600 per day budget between the three of us...maybe a bit higher for the right place. All replies are very much appreciated!

I would research the Terres Basse area. Beautiful villas, all mostly private and close to where ever you may go. With 3 couples, it will be affordable. Better rates in July.

Have you thought about using VRBO? I just did a search for a 3 BR/3 BA villa, and there are quite a few in your desired area, some for less than $400. I just had a very successful VRBO experience for my next trip in November.

Unfortunately I couldn't make it this year, so just gave my 2BR PH (sleeps 10) to the Rental Pool at Simpson
Bay Resort. It's on top floor of Marina Building, water view, huge unit. Don't know what Management will
be charging, but it's a beautiful unit, very large, outside balcony, with outdoor table & chairs, 4 chaise
lounges, and a 6 person hot tub. Will be available Aug.4 - 18, 2018 if you can use it. Good luck....
