What is everyone's preferred method for tracking the weather in the BVIs?

We'll be starting our charter on Saturday. Given the time of year and a disturbance forming off Africa (and possible lack of cell service), want to have a backup. Typically I use NOAA website, windguru, windyty websites.

I know weather is broadcast via VHF and AM. I see that 780 AM radio is basically broadcast hourly on the 30 minute mark. Is the VHF broadcast running constantly?

Thanks for the advice--this will be my 9th bareboat but never had an issue with weather before (except the Maltemi in the Greek Cyclades--but that's a different story).

Thanks!
Ken

This one is pretty good for marine conditions for all of the Virgin Islands:

That''s a good one to follow. I also like the Windfinder app for wind and wave forecasts.

In hurricane season, I also look at the NOAA 5-day Atlantic tropical weather outlook:

The VHF WX broadcasts continuously in English and Spanish, but I find the reception spotty many places in the BVI, and even in the USVI if you're behind a hilI.

It's been many years since I've intentionally tuned into ZBVI for the WX broadcast - stopped listening after David Jones passed away.

I much prefer getting the multi-day forecasts via Internet, and I've found the connections to be pretty reliable since January throughout BVI and USVI.

Thanks Kmon & Baardj.

Look to be in the clear for now and if anything the disturbance looks like it will suck the wind out of the area.. so may be a very calm week. But will keep a close eye on it!

Walker has a nice "menu" site. The animated radar is current and useful.
