I haven't seen any discussion or pictures about seaweed. Has it gone away?

My understanding is that the levels of sargassum have subsided from their high levels in June but there is always some out there. It runs in cycles.

Is there a certain time of the year that is worse than others? Hoping to return July, 2019. TY

Sargassum, so far, has appeared in significant quantities in 2011, 2015 and 2018. It has appeared in volume starting in the spring and running until early winter. Predicting 10 months away is nearly impossible.

There was a lot in 2017 also. Especially in May and June.

I was there in June and July of 2017 and there was some sargassum but not an inordinate amount. My prior statement referenced very large amounts that were being tracked by marine biologists and oceanographers. There is going to be some, almost always, I was referencing the very large blooms that were inundating the Southern and Eastern Shores.

Arrived this past Saturday and have spent each day on Orient. The seaweed is currently not a major issue. Water has been generally clear.

Have you been to Pinel? The seaweed at the ferry terminal for Pinel had been extensive.

There is a little bit today here on Simpson Bay, and the surf is rough at times. Overnight the ocean came all the way up to BSV. It was very interesting to see.

Thanks for the pictures! So wish I was there! How many villas are occupied now?

That terminal has been bad for the last 3 years when we have been there in May/June. Tis last year was the worst.
