Planning on a week on September. We have never been there that time of the year.

Will it be deserted? Any places closed? Aim for beginning versus end?

Any feedback appreciated.

It's hard to know what will happen, in this post-Irma age. Pre Irma, many places on the French side would be closed in September. Most places on the Dutch side stayed open. Now, there is not a whole lot open in Grand Case on the water side, so if you have your heart set on that, there is not a lot to pick from. We have often gone to SXM in September in the past, although not for a few years. If you can roll with it, and don't have your heart set on specific places to dine, you should be fine. Just know that you NEED to get trip insurance.

That is in hurricane season & a lot of places are closed. A lot of the owners take vacation then. But as Carol said if you are ready to roll with it.

Uh, BBT, I think you’ve your gotten your seasons confused.

Shoulder season runs Nov. 15 through Dec. 15 at which point, high season, ergo higher rates, begins and runs through April 15 when shoulder season begins again. It used to be low season from 4/15 through 12/15 but that seems to have changed a few years back and I believe low season rates do still run through 11/15.

Respectfully,

pat

Pat is exactly correct, our winter months are SXM’s high season. Our summer months are SXM’s low season. Thanks for correcting that Pat, I just made it simple.
