So, been playing around with AA flights and learnt something, as if I didnt know already. Last night or rather early hours this morning, as opposed to searching for return, did one way options. For example. June 28th Mia to Sxm one way, $108.00 return in basic economy, $123.00 main cabin(which gives more options but might have to pay extra for seats as much as $78.00!). Did the same on return and the same amount. So if you take economy, that's $216.00 return and that's cheap!!! Forgot to clear my cookies(again) and just now they come up with $293.00 return for basic and $324.00 for Main and if you book each way, its a few dollars cheaper. Actually, don't know what others pay, but its not a bad price for last minute bookings but convinced airlines have a tracking of your intended itineries and on a mobile or tablet remember to remove past history when searching. 2 days ago, the price for return in main cabin was $560.00!!! So it changes constantly but even with you clearing out your history, convinced they know. Even tried VPN so it assumed I was from the UK and the price was totally different and of course in £'s but also come up against CC info problems.......

Its a fine art of knowing all the angles which is something I don't have time for or the understanding of how to beat or better the system....................its not the money, just the ethics used. However, some will say its simply running a business, just like anyone else. Hmmm. Perhaps, perhaps not?

Traveling from where I do, I see NO ethics used in airline pricing.

I always book two one-way tickets. I started doing that when I was using miles as you needed to get miles seats as soon as they were available. Since my trips are 3+ weeks, I couldn't wait three weeks to get a round-trip on miles as the outbound would no longer have any decent seats available. Now that miles seats are so hard to get or are routings I don't want, I still do two one-way tickets. Last time I priced a round-trip ticket, it was $800 more than the two one-ways I had purchased . . . at least at the moment I was doing the search.

I also always use a private or incognito window when doing my searches.

Same here for a 3-4 week stay. We use miles one way and buy one way. Usually buy way down and then miles coming back because I believe they will bump a miles ticket before a purchased one. I search with out signing in and then sign in to buy with money or miles.

I've already purchased my tickets for our May 3 week trip going to SXM and waiting for the return flights to pop up. Then have to wait for the July flights to post for our 2 week 50th anniversary SXM trip.

Private 2 bed Villa called Logans Run. Stayed there May 2018 and this last May too. Already have it booked for next years 2 trips. It's right next to La Vista Beach. As you go down the hill towards La Vista Beach it's exactly to the left in front of you at the base. Has a carport too.

You have my deepest sympathies re that SXM fever. I fear, once you’ve gotten it, it’s near to impossible to cure and the side effects seem to linger on forever. The out of pocket cost in dollars and cents is astronomical, even if you use your deductible for incredible meals or awesome baubles. Good luck on the cure.....

Me? I’ve given up looking for one and I’m content with just letting this illness run it’s course.

Respectfully,

pat
