Daily Herald story

This seems a good idea to me. I just wish all the existing streetlights were actually working. duh

I just hope they have battery backup to keep working when the power goes out.

Solar powered would be the best to keep the backup functioning.

Great idea. Show that they're being 'proactive'. I can think of several areas where these are really needed, starting with the boardwalk in Philipsburg.

"proactive"? Proactive would have a cop or two assigned to the boardwalk where their presence may help to prevent crimes. A camera may help catch a bad guy after the fact.

2fingers--pretty sure they do have cops assigned to the boardwalk now, unless it's been discontinued. The officer that was killed in SXM was one of them.

Perhaps I am mistaken but didn't they have a plan in place several years ago to have cameras in the downtown area? Did that ever happen?

I think they were hooked up, pre-Irma. As to whether they are there now, I don't know.
