We will be in Saint Martin from January 10 to the 18th our flight does not come back out of Saint Martin until January 22. What other islands would you suggest we visit for those four nights

Anguilla, you can take a boat ride over and back for you flight back on January 22. We are doing that, also, but will be about a week earlier than you.

I would do as phillygirl7 suggested and go to Anguilla.

Or for a total change of pace and scenery, you could fly into Saba and take in the sights. No beaches to speak of but overly beautiful scenery and if either hiking or diving are in your milleau, this is a great place to do it.

Respectfully,

Of course you'll be there during the busy season (busy for a good reason). On my first trip to SXM in 1987, we did a day sail trip to St. Barts and fell in love with SBH. It is definitely not the same laid back island it was 32 years ago, but it could be an interesting French visit if you like the Frenchie thing. After our first day visit, we spent many weeks on SBH - the so-called home for the rich and famous.

I would also vote for St. Barthlemy, but bring along extra euros. A lot of them. Its beautiful, but big time expensive. Be sure to rent a car when you are there; taxi fares are totally outrageous. St. Jean Beach is fabulous, as are several other wonderful beaches but you'll need to bring along your own portable beach umbrella and towels. If you decide to go this route, I would strongly suggest finding an AirBnB right now that fits your price range. Hotel prices are off the charts for January and February, and you won't find a traditional hotel of any type for under $500 a night. You should be able to secure a nice apartment near Gustavia or up towards St. Jean Beach for around $175 to $200 per night. Be sure parking is included with the price. There are also two clothing optional beaches on the southern coast of St. Barts which are also quite beautiful -- Gouverneur and Anse de Grande Saline. Here's hoping the seaweed hasn't affected them.

St. Barth is definitely worth checking out, and Anguilla is also very nice...but two very, very different islands....Saba is unique and worth at least a day trip, but i'd go to St. Barth or Anguilla first

He is a link to a story on CNN today, with some good info about Saba. We have visited several times, to dive on some visits, and other visits, just to do some hiking around the island: https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/saba-caribbean-island/index.html

St. Barts, if you can afford it. Anguilla for the gorgeous beaches. We have now been gong to St. Barts for over 20 years. We spend a week to 10 days on St. Martin, and then 2-3 weeks on St. Barts.

Do consider Nevis. No traffic lights. No fast food. No mega cruise ships. Great golf course. Friendly people.

Yes, watch out for those killer bees... Sunshine's is definitely a must on Nevis. Good food, very nice beach.

If you are looking for a different French experience, but a French experience nonetheless you might want to try Terre-de-Haut off Guadeloupe. It would be one flight to PTP, cab ride to the ferry terminal, and ferry to the island (you might want to consider SFG vs SXM for better flight options). We've done many day long trips there and enjoyed it immensely, although it is a very laid back island. We were planning to spend some time there after Irma altered our SXM plans, but then Maria came along to change our revised plans. Still. we did manage a wonderful day there in April of last year. Air service to the States is kind of sketchy though, so you might be better off returning via SXM/SFG. But, Anguilla is also nice and much easier to get to.
