Just spent New Years week at Cypress. Everything was great as usual. Good food at Lakeside restaurant and great food at Cheeks Bar/Grill.

Lucky to get one of the new rooms. Very nice upgrade to room layout/amenities and King Size bed.

Everything was great including hair salon, massage services, boutique.

Pool warm and hot tub hot.

Can you tell me more about the new rooms and their location? I'll be booking a trip in March and would like as much information as I can get prior to booking.

Thanks, glad to hear things went well.

One building is near complete, bldg. 4 I believe. They are awaiting some final furniture items (dresserand sitdown table) and they really didn't want to let us in yet, but our first room had a squeaky bed and we had recent neck surgery and needed a better bed.

So, what they have done to the hotel room is seal off the adjoining room door in all but a view of the units. Some will still be expandable for large families. That is a big plus because on our first visit we had to enjoy our neighbors breakfast/dish/discussion noise. In place where the door was is a nice new wardrobe unit with shelving and an electronic safe. The bathroom vanity has new cabinets and what looked to be marble wraparound counters where the old clothes rack was. Really nice and has microwave, small fridge and hairdryer. The room is all tile with an area rug in front of the new sofa.

The big plus is a high quality king size bed with premium bedding and pillows. WOW, that's really all they had to do but they did more. They are putting new doors and swiper door locks with something less than a keycard required (can't remember).

Also, more electrical outlets and a desk on the way with the dressers.

Be patient if not available. Will be worth the wait.

Other buildings to follow.

As I think back a week later, Cheeks Bar at the pool is a real asset. The food and service by Gary, Marilyn and others is EXCELLENT. We just got off a cruise where the food was excellent but the best steaks I had in two weeks were the several open faced sirloin steak sandwiches for lunch and dinner at Cheeks. Throw in the bang bang shrimp and you have Bonefish Grill au naturel.

Someone asked about Mardi Gras at the Cove and here's what's hapnin!

Mardi Gras Celebration 2014
March 3rd & 4th

Mark your calendars for March 3rd and 4th for a special Mardi Gras celebration dedicated to the 50th Anniversary of Cypress Cove!!

In recognition of this special year we are planning an expanded slate of fun events, beginning with a Mask-r-ade Coronation Ball/Dinner Dance on Monday night to announce the new King and Queen of Mardi Gras and to boogie to the great music of Dancing Shoes! The Lakeside Restaurant will be serving some delicious cajun specials. Our suggested outfit for the dance includes a mask and beads and we hope to see some really fancy partiers! There'll be a prize awarded for the best "Home-Made Mask" and (for those of us who may not be so "crafty"), there will also be some inexpensive but nice masks available (donation $1 each) ahead of time.

On Fat Tuesday (3/4) we'll have lots of fun events:

Body painting (10am-1pm) by the pickleball court;

Our annual gala Fat Tuesday parade (2pm) with some surprise entries (plan your float now!!);

Our first annual "Dress Up your Guy" Costume Contest after the parade;

And a fun Mardi Pool Pardi (3-5:30PM).

We're moving the annual "street" party to the pool this year and will be having some crazy games, music by Anthony. and door prizes to be awarded during the party. We'll be asking for donated pot-luck appetizers to be served in the Game Room during the party. At party's end (5:30 pm or so), the winner of the super Mardi Gras 50:50 raffle will be selected. We expect the grand prize to beat last year's (over $400!).

Finally there will be a special Fat Tuesday Streak at Cheeks (6-10PM) w/DJ Xavier, along with more fun games and cajun eats!

So come on down for a great time both days (and escape that Northern winter)!!
