Good morning ! New poster here.
Pardon me if this has already been asked, or redirect me to another forum if this is posted elsewhere.
We have a 9d catamaran trip planned for January 2022 and have heard some issues regarding the PCR test on arrival taking between 3 and 24 hours for the result. Also wanted to know where the current mandatory Tortola quarantine occurs in the event that 1 in our group, all vaccinated, would test positive on arrival?
We will certainly give consideration to postponing this trip until 2023 if advised as CDC now recommends against BVI travel at this time. What do you all think?
Thanks in advance!

It is my understanding that rapid tests are now being performed for arrival tests (at least for arrivals into EIS) - results within 30 minutes. Others will likely chime in on this along with info on quarantine locations. Not sure how they are handling it now - previously you would quarantine on your boat at the dock if some tested positive (all members of the group Q together).

We have traveled to the BVI twice this year - it was well worth all the hoops we climbed through - our first trip entailed multiple tests and a 4 day quarantine on arrival. Still more than worth it. Just about every location on the planet is in category 4 now with CDC - it is a recommendation not a ban.

Thanks for the info. Where did you quarantine? On your charter, or elsewhere?

We own a catamaran - we quarantined on her - but this was part of the standard 4 day arrival quarantine for all guests back in March. Everyone was tested on arrival, and again on day 4 before being released from Q back then. Different protocols now.

Jason, it looks like the numbers of new cases has dropped drastically in the past week or two. I did see that they added 6 new deaths on Aug. 11th. Not sure if that's accurate though. This says about 48% of the pop should be vaccinated if everyone has had 2 doses (which doesn't seem like that is the case as a lot just got their first after this last spike). Just looking for an update if you had one. You've become my best source of information for the island through all this craziness!

Down to 46 active cases. Deaths are at 37 and hospitalizations are down. Overall, very good news but they just announced the Delta variant has been officially detected in the samples sent for analysis on 4 August.

No clue. Since they just detected the Delta variant, I doubt any change is coming soon. They just reduced the ferry counts too.

I can't remember the protocols when you came in June, but I think they have an additional test now. Did you have to take a PCR test at the ferry dock? If not, you do now although it's a rapid antigen test so you get your results before you leave the ferry terminal. And no trackers for vaccinated.

Yes..took the test at the dock. Just hoping we might have some kind of season..dont know how folks are surviving. Fortunately we just have one rental at CRC and that about pays for the basics but folks like you and restaurants are taking it in the shorts.Still hoping to see you in October..
