Just announced via press conference: https://www.facebook.com/events/438768544306753/?ref=newsfeed

Effective June 15th:

No BVI Gateway (regardless of vaccination status)
No travel insurance required
Day trippers not required to have negative covid test (a little surprised that this group is not required to have tests but those of us staying longer are - you either have it or you don't....)

Tests still required (48 hours) for those staying longer than 24 hours in territory.

Masks not required - now personal choice.

I guess their thinking on the testing requirement is if someone has it, who cares, they'll be back somewhere else by the time they need treatment? Someone staying longer term could come down with it and need treatment while there?

Still would be nice if they just eliminated the testing all together though.

Also, anyone infected is exposed to less people during a day trip than a longer vacation; probably no grocery stores, less restaurants, no hotel staff, etc. Not great for people like Leon at Soggy but he still has his plexiglass.... clapping

But the concern “should be” more about the transmission to others on the island than the potential treatment of that daytripper…

Here's the summary I posted on the Coconut Breeze FB page. Hope it's helpful:

Quite a few BVI COVID-19 protocol updates this week worth noting.
Summary below:
- no testing or portals required any longer to travel from BVI to USVI or SJU via ferry or air
- BVI mask mandate dropped for indoor and outdoor activities
- no travel insurance requirement to enter the BVI
- no testing required for daytrips to or from the BVI
- no more isolation required for contacts of positive cases
Entry requirements now include:
- Negative rapid antigen test or RT-PCR test taken within 2 day
OR
- document issued by a licensed medical professional certifying COVID-19 recovery within 90 days prior to arrival, in place of a negative test (new option).
