I think a lot of Restaurants do a Thanksgiving dinner. Toppers does , when we are on Island we love Mary's Boon on Simpson Bay Beach Turkey dinner for something very special.

There are always lots of ads in the Daily Herald for restaurants doing a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, mostly on the Dutch side. I have to say though, we haven't been on TG for a while, but the last time we were on SXM at TG, we sought out a restaurant on Orient that was serving traditional TG dinner (I think it was Bikini Beach, which of course is now gone), and then ordered off the regular menu! laugh It's just not the same.

Some choices are:

Passanggrahan
Taloulah Mangos
Toppers
Jax
Emilios

there will be many. Probably even Pineapple Pete's. Just check the paper when you arrive.

Is Bikini Beach really gone? I had dinner there two years ago and it was one of the first to open after Irma.

We're usually on the island for Thanksgiving, and there are plenty of restaurants offering a traditional American Thanksgiving meal. We always choose to spend the day on one of the beautiful beaches and have a non-traditional meal.

Like GaKaye, we prefer to have a non-traditional meal. Can always make turkey at home!

With all due respect… Turkey w/ stuffing, hot gravy, and all sides is a must!
Pumpkin pie and an American tradition is still important to some of us.

That's fine, you can still celebrate it that way, even on SXM. We always have turkey at home, but somehow on SXM, it doesn't seem necessary. I have a whole lot more here I could say, but I won't.

It seems to me that if it is that important to you, that SXM would not be on your radar for Thanksgiving. I, too, like a traditional Thanksgiving dinner so if I were on island, I would probably cook it myself. To be honest I don't like to eat out on Thanksgiving as I want things done the way I want them done. To each his own.

Last Thanksgiving was a change from the traditional turkey to a baked ham. It was so perfect with yams in maple butter and corn on the cob. It is not so important what is on the table but who you spend Thanksgiving with.

People often ask why our Fall trip is always scheduled around Thanksgiving and we choose to spend it at home rather than on de islon……….

Just ask my daughter about that. Almost every year she hosts our traditional family Thanksgiving with anywhere from 25 to 40 guests. Everyone brings, bakes and makes and a good time is had by all.

And she makes it look so easy…..she has that talent.

Respectfully,

pat

Traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner has been served at Bistro restaurant in the village at Orient Beach in each of the last few years. Check with Richard at Coda Bar as well. I believe they are offering it this year also.

Your two comments seem contradictory. I definitely agree with the second one, and always look forward to our beachy Thanksgiving with our friends on the island.
