Looking to finally get back to BVI and its looking like the week that includes July 4th which I havent done before. Not looking for a party but is there anything I should know about crowds etc.? I assume it will be low season. How was this July?

July 4th is an American holiday..hardly celebrated on the British islands.You may find some action in CGB but its not like the US mainland..hard for (us) Brits to celebrate a day when they/we were told to get out!

Yeah, to Manpot's point, that would be like a turkey celebrating Thanksgiving. As for crowds, the big "Christmas In July" fesitval usually occurs on one of weekends later of the month that is closest to or includes the 25th, https://www.moorings.com/blog/christmas-in-july, so you should be all set insofar as your desire to avoid a slew of people.

I've travelled down a few times of 4th of July and haven't seen too much of a difference as far as crowds. It's low season so the amount of people there is already small. There might be more Americans because it is a holiday in the US. However, it's a short holiday and most people tend to stay close to home for fireworks celebrations. And/or don't go further than STT simply to avoid the customs and immigration hassle for what is probably only a 4 day weekend trip.

Born in London..headhunted by the National Enquirer to move to Palm Beach, Fla..they moved me to their LA Bureau. I then bought my home in Venice Beach and stayed 30 years..got married and then sold up and moved up to Sonoma and CRC on Tortola.

Mal, I'll bet that you must get really homesick for that wonderful Great Britain cuisine, and weather - huh?.

I may have said this before and, if so, apologies, but I'll accept no criticism of British cuisine from the home of Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, IHOP etc Oh, and by the way, forecast for here in the original Worcester is 80-85f and sunny for the rest of the week.

Americans will say funny things. Once shepherding a group to the BVI I was asked what currency they use. I explained they use the US dollar. She replied, “Wow, that makes things easy, do you know the current exchange rate”!

Mike..I agree and get a good laugh that the US has French toast that no Frenchman would eat and created a dish called London broil that I never heard of growing up.Maybe we'll give them Belgian waffles..but naming a US brew after a famed Euro beer Budweiser was going too far!!! And we wont mention the US pronounciation of Notre Dame!! They do have New Orleans and that forgives all in the food dept IMHO.

I think that, as with music, one’s favorite cuisine has a lot to do with what you grew up with. I’m glad I’m from New Orleans.☺️

Who can forget Mike Beswick ( Jeannius) tasting a Triscuit for the first time. He bit into the Trisicuit and then tore off park of the box it came in and ate it."Just as I thought," said Mike,"the cardboard tastes better!!"

...also the texture of the box was better than the Triscuit. Those were the days. Many great times with great friends.
