Huh. Good news, but very late, versus the normal timing. But I do hope they have gotten security in place.

This is good news, as we will be there in time to catch the 3rd week. Although, I will be following along closely to see how the first two weeks go. Hopefully with precautions and security in places as Carol states.

Isn't Mardi Gras late because Easter is later this year?

Newspaper article doesn't say anything about extra security, but does say there will be lighting on the street. Hopefully there will be security.

I don’t know what is currently being done, but at the end of January Le Boulevard de Grand Case was pedestrian-only access from 6PM until 1AM, (exceptions for bus and taxi). For security there were Police patrols from 6PM until 10PM, followed by Gendarme patrols from 10PM until 2AM.

Apparently closing the street now is only happening now on Friday and Saturday nights.

So the deadbeat criminals have the rest of the week to raise H*LL.

What goes on during the celebration? We will be there on the last Tuesday, staying in Orient Village. Is it worth a drive over there to check it out?

I would definitely say yes! Lots of street vendors, a parade, entertainment, etc! The biggest problem is figuring out parking.
