Less than 10 weeks from our 7th visit!! In one visit we stopped at Tintemarre while on a Peggy and Paul around the island tour, but only for a short time. We would like to snorkel there without spending the entire day on tour like P&P. Have thought about renting or charting a boat. Any recommendation?

Don't know about renting or chartering a boat, but you may like Tiko Tiko.

Are you familiar with boats? I rented a 25 foot Sea Fox from behind Hertz car rental. We went over to Tintamaare one day.

WWII thanks for the reply. We do a lot of boating but only on lakes. We are very comfortable with safely operating a boat. Was it different operating a boat in open waters around the island vs. what you were used to? Having been on other boats it does not seem that different. We like the idea of controlling our own time, so think renting/chartering a boat makes a lot of sense.

Can highly recommend Celine and Tiko Tiko but Celine was destroyed in the hurricane and Tiko Tiko was badly damaged. Celine 2 is on the way as I understand and Tiko is due to be back in the water soon. The Celine has always gone with the flow but Tiko is pretty much a nude cruise (leaving from Club O). Also Celine always left from Simpson bay, Tiko, Orient beach...huge difference depending on where you are staying.

The guy (Mr. "Brown Sugar") who ran the shuttle boat service from Cul de Sac to Pinel would take you out to Tintemarre if you asked, and pick you up later in the day. Haven't done that for several years, so don't know if that's still an option or not.

Boating is about the same as big lakes, when it's relatively calm. We have circumnavigated the whole island on calm days in a 20 foot center console, but it was a really calm day. The Sea Fox we've rented the lastcouple uears is a 25 foot center console. When it's a rough day, we might only be on whichever is the lee side of the island or not at all. We enjoy being our own skipper as well and not having any schedule.
