Where would you purchase one in the bvi. Any recommendations on the brand and model for use from a sailboat by people with varied skill levels and aptitude?

Try contacting Scott at Island Surf and Sail. He is really into the stand up paddle boarding thing these days. If he doesn't sell them, he will know who does.

I've never checked Island Surf and Sail out...looks like they are in Sopers Hole but the website says free delivery for weekly rentals, has anyone used them when chartering out of Roadtown? If you're into fishing they offer (3) frozen fully rigged ballyhoo for $23...no fuss no muss! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />

Scott does occasionally sell, and I know he got a whole new batch in so was selling some a month or so ago, definitely give him a shout.

Also Chris the rental water sports "guy" in front of Myetts. He was the original One Stop Sports. He, as well as Scott, are well connected in that field.

We have the 14 foot SUP from Tower and would highly recommend them. They are inflatable so you could take them on charters.

Do you inflate it for the duration of the charter or only in advance of use?

I was concerned about inflatable not being stiff enough.

scott is great.. I reccomend the harder shell models like the "BIC" brand. They are very durable and light weight. the epoxy boards are very fragile. one bump on a rock or dropped on a dock and you have a good dent.

After renting multiple times I bought an inflatable that I now bring on trips. A Red Paddle Co race 12.6, it is very stiff for an inflatable. Pricy though.

I keep it inflated, but it's nice to have the option of deflating it if it was in the way.

Last trip we brought our inflatable boards. Pumped them up on the dock and kept them inflated the whole week. We have Xterra boards and sometimes they go onsale so you get can get for about 50%off. Because we travel light, we only had to check boards. Also, because of getting upgraded back home, boards were free to check.
