Arriving 2:30 pm at STT on 2/15 from snowy Boston. How do I pre-arrange a pickup so we don't fight the mobs? We are carry-on only and need to get to CA to catch a ferry to Road Town to connect with charter capt. Spending 5 days on board then 4 nights on Virgin Gorda. I'm hoping to overnight on Anegada, which we have never been to. Do I need reservations (mid week) at Neptunes? Or for a day rental of a vehicle? Then on VG, We will need a jeep/truck. My husband has to leave early so I'm worried about driving on the left, but hopefully will have a couple days of practice before he leaves. I'm assuming this is peak travel time. Do we need reservations for the jeep? What about the BBQ Friday night? Bummed that Michael Beans has stopped doing Thur nights. I was planning on that too. I splurged on a flight from Fly BVI to get us from Virgin Gorda to STT the day of our flight. Hopefully, that will be painless. Any suggestions people have on how to make things easier from a logistical standpoint are welcome. Also- these various resorts on the islands. Is it "easy" to use the facilities or is security tight in the pools etc. So many questions....

For a pick-up at STT, you can call or text Kevin Campbell at 340-643-0025. I'd give him at least a week's notice.

We used Kevin last week, as suggested by others on here. It worked out very well. I had texted him a week in advance, he stayed in touch during the week, he texted me right after we landed to let me know he was ready for us. He knew what ferries were running and got us there quickly for the same price the cattle cars would charge.

Dean Wheatley (DW Rentals) can help you with a rental on Anegada. His # is 284-495-9677.
If you're staying at Leverick, they can arrange a car for you on VG.

So you've got details to get taxi on STT, so let's look at your other points. I am unsure if you want to stay overnight at Neptune's, if so, of course you must book in advance, if you mean to be going there for an evening meal, they will prefer reservations by about 3pm. You should be on Anegada by then, so no problem. Hiring a vehicle there will be done through Dean Whitely. Calling him from VG on the day, or a day in advance should be fine. We often call as we are approaching the anchorage and have never had a problem, but for your peace of mind, a day or two in advance will be fine. His number will be supplied by others here, or readily available from VG.
Driving on VG is easy compared to Tortola (as is driving on Anegada). Vehicle rental easy to arrange once you are there. As far as Jumbies night at Leverick is concerned, you DO need to reserve a table, not just turn up (though a space would be found for you). Contact them by midday, no need to be anymore in advance, you are on vacation-as is everyone else, and plans change, they are used to it. Relax and enjoy.

I knew my concerns would be answered. I love this forum. Thank you!! I tend to micromanage too much (in case that wasn't already apparent). I need a Painkiller (or ten) to help me unwind. 24-36" of snow expected tonight. BVIs can't come soon enough. Thanks again for the great info javascript:void(0)

Just a "heads-up" about driving on Anegada. If you are doing a beach crawl, the road between Loblolly (actually across from the airport) to Anegada Beach Resort and then Cow Wreck, is not paved. No worries, just don't be concerned about being on the wrong road because it is not paved. Look for the flamingos on the ponds along the way.

And don't venture too far off that road either. Getting stuck in soft sand far away from any help can spoil your afternoon.

I would get in touch with Neptunes at least a day prior to make a reservation. Also, if you don't already know, the restuarants in Anegada want your dinner order ahead of time. In our experience it is by noon of the day you are having dinner but might be later when you are there. We are usually there during the Christmas/New Years week so it is super busy.

Most of your questions have been answered except for use of resort facilities. Leverick is very causal about the use of their pool and facilities. I believe that is also the case at Scrub if you are docking with them.
Bitter End charges for use of their pool and facilities. If you dock at Peter, you may be able to use the pool, but, in general, Peter is not friendly to non-guests.
The Anegada Beach a Club is very friendly about use of their facilities. Not so much at Little Dix (unless you are going to their spa,) Biras and Oil Nut Bay. You need to be a guest at Guana.
I am less familiar with the resorts on Tortola.
Everywhere else, the spectacular beaches are wide open for your use.

Never got charged at Scrub for day tripping (last time 2 weeks ago ferried from Tola). As long as you drink/eat at the pool, bring your own towel, no worries. Have not been at the Bitter End for a while, but usually the pool fee (10-15/day) includes towels, lounge usage and the fee is deducted from your lunch bill. Drinks, however, are a bit pricey.

I'm always puzzled when I hear this (and it has indeed been said by others). We've stopped at the resort on Peter during every one of our six charters, and always found the staff friendly and accomodating. We respected their rule that the pool was for guests only (which I believe has changed now). But we've taken advantage of the beautiful beach (past the rock outcropping as they request), shop, bar, and restaurants, and wandered all around the property, without ever feeling less than welcome.

Just our experience.

I agree, we have always felt welcome at the resort. We stayed on the dock a couple years ago and the front desk treated us great and coordinated shuttle runs back and forth to the beach for us. They even took a great group photo for us! We used the pool and bar and had an awesome time. There dock fees were very high, if memory is good...we paid $165 which included electricity. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

We have anchored in Deadmans several times and have always felt welcome.

We may have just hit them at a bad time. It was about twelve years ago. We were on a slip. We were made to feel like interlopers for both lunch and dinner. We have never been back.
