We are returning to Paradise in just over two weeks and are traveling with friends who really enjoy MEAT! When on island, I stick to seafood and my husband is vegetarian so he's no help. Hoping you guys can point us in the direction of a fabulous steak - staying on OP but we don't mind a jaunt. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

The best steak I have had on island is between Moulin Fou and Hidden Forest Cafe. Other good steaks were at Marty's, The Palms and Kakao.
Cheers,
Todd

I prefer the Isle seat

I seem to remember previous posts on the subject about the beef on the Island not being the best grade of beef. Is it still that way, or have the restaurants been able to serve a better quality lately?

There are going to be both poor and top cuts. It all depends on what the restaurant buys from the supplier.

I'm a beef eater, and I like it rare. Bring it out mooing so I can get the full flavor.

It depends upon the cut you like, as to who carries or prepares that, and how they do it.

I've had "cut with a spoon melt in your mouth" filet at Bajatzu.
And then another wonderful filet at Kakao with a St Marcellin.

Excellent.

We have enjoyed the best island steak at Bajatzu and The Stone. At the Stone you can cook it to your personal preference and it is always perfect!

I do like a lot of the steaks mentioned already...but last month I had the BEST filet I have ever had at La Villa. It was so good, we did it twice!!!!!! In fact, I do have to admit that the two meals there were probably two of the BEST MEALS i have ever had...not just on the island but anywhere!!!! We took a larger party there for our second visit, and NO ONE was dissapointed. Can't wait for next year.

I had that filet at La Villa and wrote this review last January. We also had as dinner at Bajatzu and wrote a review. Both restaurants have a prix fixe option that makes dinner quite reasonable. La Villa, though French, accepts dollars (cash) at par. Elisa Cohen, late of Bikini Beach, has changed a few things at Bajatzu over the last high season.

All of the steak at Bajatzu is Creek Stone Prime Black Angus 100% no drugs, no hormones, vegetable fed and aged 28 days minimum. And Calypso, the guy at the grill for many years knows how to cook it !

Well they rehired him recently after complains .
I'm not crazy about them as before when Bobby was the Owner.

Bajahtzu, Rancho and the filet at Antoines is also amazing. Not a prime rib fan, but have had filet at all three and all very very good. Just back from Delfriscos and had filet all very comparable!!

The entrecôte de boeuf, or Scotch filet at the Yellow restaurant on Pinel was amazing. Also the filet with foie gras at Bacchus. Both are lunch places by the way.

We have also had good meals at Rancho on Airport Road in Simpson Bay. They have a floor show a couple of nights a week. Great dancers!! They used to have a choice of US or Argentine beef. Very different tastes, but both are very good.

My husband loved the beef tenderloin at Ocean 82 in February (and I loved the mango chutney mahi mahi). We both can't wait to go back next year smile

Ocean 82 was one of the best meals we had. The service was excellent, food cam out timely, and the lobster bisque was to die for.

Ocean 82 is directly across the street from Bisrot Cariabes, on the ocean. I'm having a senior moment so can't remember, but I think the location was formerly the Fish Pot??

fabulous, we had a great time. The only part of the resort we stayed away from was the main pool with the swim up bar, way too many kids and very noisy. Each building had it's own private pool, very relaxing We just pulled into dock at Simpson Bay Marina and are breaking down the boat for hurricane season. She goes on the hard in 3 days. That was one fast month.

Glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Other than Ocean 82, where else did you eat that you enjoyed?

We love Avantika Thai, ate there twice exceptional food and service. The Yacht Club is very consistent. Skip Jacks we loved and bought fresh fish and crab cakes to the boat, excellent crab cakes. The Italian restaurant at the resort I'lsola (sp) was also very good with a nice 2 piece band

Skipjacks has certainly improved to become a very consistently good restaurant in recent times. Yacht Club, especially for breakfast, is one of our favorites also.
