Headed to virgin gorda next week. Wondered if the place that sells BBQ chicken is still open. If so, where is it located? I seem to remember it is hard to find.

Just go past the yacht harbor toward Baths ,,..past "Grandmas Kitchen".., look for "Napa auto sign".., small one way street on left..bout 3 blocks up the alley like street ..on right is a white building..past some nice apartments. .thats M & M bakery ..though sounds problematic..is easy to find.

They're open all night, but they used to be closed on Sat. nights. Not sure if that's still the case.

OK, I'll bite, why are they open all night? I thought that was a typo.

Bakers work all night for the morning trade. True here in Manhattan Beach for our big bakery. Might be the case for M&M.

OK, that makes sense in CA. Not sure there's enough business on Virgin Gorda for them to have to work all night, but guess it would definitely be cooler baking at night.

We'll be at Guavaberry Spring Bay for about three weeks starting Thursday. We know M&M well, so well that my advice to you service wise is to open the door and say "hello, how are you today?" just in case the owner is in the back room and didn't hear you come in. Also, if you go to the Guavaberry web page you can print out a map of Virgin Gorda with shops, restaurants, markets, gas stations, etc. all marked, and all of the roads, beaches, et al. 4 days and counting... If you want to meet up with us we close Mad Dog every night, which is easy to do as Edith shuts it down around 7... Just look for the guy with the Hawaiian shirt and say something like Charlie, is that you?

M&M is a pretty big deal..beyond the retail trade, their packaged bread and buns are all over the BVI...you will see their big van full of bread on the ferry dock every morning. Think wonder bread of the BVI. And they run a ton of business thru that store. If you get there around 6 you will see a stream of locals stopping by for bread, pates Strombolis etc. for
dinner. Martin runs the shop and with help the baking overnight...Maria runs the store in the am..huge counter of the best pastries in the islands are usually pretty well sold out by 11. M&M are doing quite well I suspect..but work awfully hard.

The chicken goes early.
M&M does the baking for many of the restaurants and resorts on island, that's their principal business. The storefront bakery is mosly for belongers and a few of us non-belongers. Great stuff. Great people,

Juist printed the map. Thanks for mentioning that as it's updated as it shows Hog Heaven although I don't need a map for that.

Rosy's now has rotisserie chickens on Saturdays. They're ready around noon and sell quickly. We think they're better than M&M's.

To clarify, the small Napa sign is on the right. The one-way street then slightly further ahead on the left. And the plain white building is on the right with a steamy windows and one door, and no sign. The shop has the most incredible brownies as well. When you drive away, the road will bear right and you'll be farther up on the Yacht-Harbor to Baths road (Tower road if I recall ). Cash.

Hi Boulderboy! We haven't been to M&M in a while. We raid Rosy's, Buck's, and what used to be a warehouse called RTW (Road Town Wholesale) and is now a regular food market. We get treats for the Guavaberry doggies at the market over at Leverick. Milk is still a if you see it grab it thing. Is it May yet?

Some years back, M&M were the ONLY bakers for many of he Virgin Gorda restaurants and resorts, and for the markets at Leverick, Bitter End, Saba, and Spanish Town, in addition to their own walk-up neighborhood trade. By all means, there was ample ( and more) work for them to be there all night.
