Nettle Bay Beach Club Questions

Nettle Bay Beach Club Questions - 02/21/2015 06:50 PM

Hello we will be staying at Nettle Bay in March.
1. Is there a work room on the property?
2. Can we release wish lanterns on the beach?
3. Does the resort provide beach and pool floating tubes or loungers?
4. Is the the online supermarket and delivery in advance worth it or should we just go when we get there. (Staying 7 days)

Thank You for any help

Don't know about Nettle Bay, but if you're referring to Jeannie's Shop & Drop, It's very well worth it. Very convenient, plus Jeannie is a wonderful lady!

Not knowledgeable at all about your Nettle Baie property questions but I can only reemphasize what Pony has already stated - Jeannie and her Shop And Drop grocery service is absolutely worth using, and absolutely if you're like me and can't stand grocery shopping anywhere, but particularly NOT on vacation, her service is even better yet. We've used her twice a year each year since she opened her business and will happily be doing so again in a few more weeks.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it is a RESORT. I thought they were all privately owned units.

What are 'wish lanterns'??

Thank you for shop and drop info definitely using her service. Wish lanterns are like kites that can be released in the sky. We got married in Jamaica in Nov 2014 with 90 guest and due to high winds not able to use them so wanted to bring to St. Martin

We have stayed at nettles bay and loved it. I don't think lanterns will be a problem. I know they have tennis court didn't check for gym. The pools have loungers. U may want to check with bob the beach chair guy for snorkel and chairs to travel around with!

Are you staying on the lagoon side or the ocean side in Baie Nettle?

I'm not really aware of resorts providing loungers/floats - free or rental - for the pool or ocean though I do think I've seen a beach concession stand somewhere that had them available for rent, now that I think about it - possibly at Grand Case Beach Club? Not saying they do or don't - but you do occasionally see the styro noodles floating around the different pool areas and up for grabs, if that helps.

And most of the beaches do have chaise lounges and umbrellas available for rent.

Good choice on Jeannie - even if you don't plan on eating in a lot - I would recommend her breakfast fare - coffee, juice, fresh fruit and baguettes and pastries to die for from Serafinas. Yummy - what a way to start the day!!

I believe its the ocean side unit 4340. Did you do any grilling? I'm going thru the shopping list.

Wish lanterns are kind of like mini hot air balloons that you light a candle in them and they float into the heavens.

Nettle Bay Beach Club is on the ocean side. There are at least 2 pools and chairs, etc (or used to be),although the beach itself isn't great as far as swimming.

NBBC consists of individually owned condo units clustered around 4 or 5 pools and faces the Caribbean. The owners usually have beach gear stored in the unit for your use along with a grill for bbq'ing. We enjoyed staying there a few years ago and appreciated the amenities that part of the island offered. We enjoyed walking to Dreams and MyT1 restaurants plus there is a boulangerie, grocery store, gas station and pizza place across the street. Layla's Restaurant is just up the road toward Sandy Ground and although it is not a far walk, a quick drive there is recommended. For more dining venues you may want to consider Marigot, which is only a 10 minute drive away. In addition to the beaches at NBBC, Baie Rouge is less than a mile down the road.
Not sure what you mean by "work room" but Clem from this site is an owner there and perhaps can add more info. Have a nice vacation.

Re: Nettle Bay Beach Club Questions - 02/23/2015 04:56 PM

Robert,

This is purely MY PERSONAL OPINION and I'm sure many might disagree with me, but I don't even consider Dreams beach on my list of beaching days destination beaches. That said, we'd far prefer beaching at Mullet, or Simpson Bay or Orient or Friars if we felt like driving a little further. BUT it's awesome there for sunning because they have possibly the most comfy beach furniture on the island and the beach staff is wonderfully attentive and accommodating.

The food is wonderful from their salads to the pizzas and paninis and burgers and right through their extensive menu of full course lunches and dinners as well as desserts.

The drinks are great and the wine list, I'm told, is awesome and they even have a non-alcoholic beer if that's your preference.

And all the above at all different price levels so you're sure to find something both enjoyable and affordable.

But the beach itself isn't equal to a Mullett, Orient or Simpson Bay beach. There are always swimmers in the water there but usually a lot more lunching and relaxing and we would be among the latter since in all our trips since Dreams opened I don't think either of us has actually made it into the water.

The entrance to the water there is very rocky so if you use water sandals you will be fine.

Re: Nettle Bay Beach Club Questions - 02/24/2015 03:06 PM

Pat,

Thanks we love to land at Orient go in and out of the water all day and eat at one of our favorite places so maybe we'll catch it for lunch someday if the weather isn't beach worthy. Do you know Sue and Steve Allen also from your home town. They moved for Massachusetts years ago.

Re: Nettle Bay Beach Club Questions - 02/24/2015 04:33 PM

I don't know the Allens from Brookfield but I'm sure Brookfield's loss is your gain.

And don't take wrong my opinions re Dreams Beach and beaching there the wrong way, please. Many do enjoy going in and out as you suggest, but it just isn't a preferred beach for me but OMgoodness - is lunch there ever delicious! Furnishings, food and libations often out-weigh it's lack of swimmability and we always have a good time but there are some days when it's just too rough for my taste and access mobility given my height challenges and short legs...

Re: Nettle Bay Beach Club Questions - 02/25/2015 04:35 AM

We stayed at NBBC June last year and were pleased with property and location. It was a VRBO from an individual who supplied beach toys and grill if needed. This is a gated area with card swipe access. There is a guard shack but not always maned. Make sure to arrange access with who ever you rent from, especially if arriving on a late flight (Thanks AA for our midnight arrival) We enjoyed the ocean view from our unit but spent most of our beach time on other various beaches around the island. We added several new beaches to our list this year our favorite of which was Baie Rouge. Marigot is close and convenient so we spent more time exploring there than previous trip. The pizza place that was near NBBC has moved to just this side of Marigot in the entrance of a grocery store.
