78-Room Dutch Side Hotel Bought by US Company

78-Room Dutch Side Hotel Bought by US Company - 04/20/2015 03:13 PM

A 78-room Dutch Side hotel has been bought by a US company. What resorts on the Dutch Side are 78 rooms? Immediately thought of Alegria, but I thought Alegria was bigger... and this appears to have just happened, from what I've learned so far.

Re: 78-Room Dutch Side Hotel Bought by US Company - 04/20/2015 03:58 PM

I don't know how many rooms they have there, but think it is more also. And isn't Alegria already owned by a US company? What about Sonesta Great Bay? Just a wild a$$ guess. There really aren't a lot of traditional 'hotels' on the Dutch side and most are much smaller than 78 rooms. What about Sapphire, although it's not a hotel either.

But, just asking, if someone told you that such a sale took place, why didn't they tell you which hotel?

Great Bay has 250+ rooms. Maybe a P'burg hotel?

Holland House has 55 rooms so, rule that out.

OK, I had no idea Great Bay had that many rooms. Again, Sea Palace is not just a hotel per se, but what about Sea Palace?

Re: 78-Room Dutch Side Hotel Bought by US Company - 04/20/2015 04:36 PM

Here goes the speculation!

The C building of Alegria is about that size, and the Towers is about that size.

Ocean Club was for sale, but I do not think they have that many units but I have no idea of the size of the "Waterview Apartments" portion of the place.

I hope it works out for all regardless of if something was actually sold or where.

Cheers,
Todd

it could have been purchased by another U S company.
The current owner was letting it be known they were ready to sell.

Since they never finished the shells, Trip Advisor is probably correct, the 60+ former timeshares in the B & C buildings plus the hotel rooms near the lobby Could be 78.

Ocean Club has 25 units in the "Waterview Apartments" building, plus 18 units in the poolside villas (excluding the 2 villas that are privately owned, and excluding the 8 oceanfront villas).

It is very strange that this information would be released without the name of the hotel. It just leads to far too much speculation.

Re: Bob Dot -- Seminoles - 04/24/2015 01:54 AM

Whatever happened with the story of Hard Rock Hotel moving onto the island?

Originally at the Pelican, as I recall.

Perhaps it's them?????????

Re: Bob Dot -- Seminoles - 04/24/2015 02:32 AM

The litigation with regard to the purchase of the former Pelican resolved maybe six months ago, with the court ruling that the transaction was not validly completed. Thus there is still some negotiating--or litigation-- to do, to determine who has valid title to the property. Possibly, once that is actually concluded, the Seminoles might still be interested. Who knows?

Re: Bob Dot -- Seminoles - 04/24/2015 03:31 PM

From reading another post here in a different thread, it was reported that the Marriot Hotel Group have visited ALEGRIA and are interested in having a large complex developed there. Perhaps that is the 78 room hotel that is under discussion here.

Re: 78-Room Dutch Side Hotel Bought by US Company - 04/25/2015 12:28 PM

Jeff,

It is likely to be Alegria as it boasts 78 hotel rooms. http://www.alegriasxm.com/amenities/hotel-amenities.htm

Secondly there is another thread (Alegria and Cruise 360) that a rep for Alegria is boasting about Marriots involvement to create a Residence Inn there.

Marriot does not normally buy hotels but establishes marketing agreements with owners to brand the property and use their reservation system.
