Orient pictures from Fabila - 10/31/2015 02:07 PM

Pictures taken by Louise and David, October 30.

The first picture, the buildings do seem a little further from the ocean, than some of the other pictures have been. And, as has been posted here, the paint sure is an improvement!

If they are back very far will that not eat into a lot of the parking? Any idea on plans for parking in that area. I know there was some land behind the former parking area but would have to be excavated for suitable parking.

There is quite a bit of open land behind where they are. I think in one of the pictures posted the other day, it looked like you could see the curbs of where the parking lot is supposed to be.

The colors do add a lot to the look of the buildings....the last report said that none have been assigned yet ....so.....if someone like orange fever comes back.....would be pretty funny if orange fever ends up in like a lime green building????? and....even though the report was that cheryl wasn't returning...she could've ended up with something other than her typical blue??? It may have made more sense to let the tenants at least chose a color that they would've liked...but i guess that may be a small item in the scheme of things.

Nothing unusual about change, but it really does seem surreal that in 1987 there was nothing there but beach and water and trees.

So, why can't they change their name to "Lime Fever"?? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Smile.gif" alt="" /> As far as the tenants changing the colors, they will not be finished until painted outside, so it makes sense to me for them to be painted outside anyway. Aloha also had a blue paint scheme, by the way, which would seem to be pretty popular a color for the Caribbean..

With the island being half Dutch, I'm pretty sure Orange Fever is a reference to Oranjekoorts, a Dutch sports fan thing. It's about soccer above all else, and manifests in wearing orange to support the national team.

Very well could be but I believe the proprietors of Orange Fever are French.

Maybe, maybe not. The vast majority of their clients are probably American tourists, who wouldn't have any knowledge of that..

Forgive me for asking what may be obvious, but what are these pictures of exactly? Have they knocked down all the rickety beach bars at the south end? When dd this happen. Someone mentioned Orange Fever above - I may just have to go to another island if I can't get their pizza for lunch!

Yes, they removed and are replacing the several bars and shops between Pedro's and Kon Tiki. They began sometime during the summer, and the projected completion of the new buildings is sometime in November. Theoretically, the original bar owners will return there upon completion.
