I wouldn't say there is plenty of sand in front of the Perch. We just got back last week and there is room for one row of chairs from the Pedro's area to 100 feet south of the Perch. On high tide the water comes within 10 feet of the steps leading up to the Perch. Every week the Club O tractor dumps a scoop of sand leading up to the steps. The one drawback I found this year was the erosion has caused the rocks normally covered with sand while walking out into the water to now be uncovered when you get about waist high in the water.

In the middle of the beach at Club O there are four rows, but rather close together. We did see some people sitting in chairs that where above the rope line and on Club O property. We usually park at Club O, pay the $5 and walk down the path to the beach. We were allowed to walk behind the rope, on Club O property, this year to get toward the middle of the beach. They didn't allow that in past years. We also didn't have to pay $5 for parking this year. We arrived April 20 and didn't have to pay at all to park. The lot was packed as usual.

"the erosion has caused the rocks normally covered with sand while walking out into the water to now be uncovered when you get about waist high in the water"

Is this the case along the entire Club O beach?

Actually after about 50 yards south of the Perch there are no or very few rocks in the water, i.e. the section of the beach with the four rows of chairs. But yes there are definitely rocks elsewhere.

Walked by there today. Not many people but plenty of sand. Don't see the draw. LaPlaya gets our business. 15.00 for two chairs with thick pads, umbrella, table and two drinks. Lots of space between chair sets. Coolers allowed. Life was good.

Don't see the draw? That's kinda funny. Do you think it could be that it's clothing optional? Check the Club O cam and see how much sand you can see out from the roof line of The Perch. That's how I gauge how much sand is there.

Here's three G rated photos taken from a boat just yesterday.
They also show the two swim rafts which are floating on some plastic rectangular floatation like these Dockbuilders floats . The rafts are well built, with smooth decking and seem to be extremely buoyant... a see a Sinko-De-Rafto event being quite challenging now!
This photo is about midway between Papagayo's and the Perch.

Here's a shot of Papagayo's from the water taken yesterday, and again you can see that they have had to extend that seawall a little further down the beach.

... and there's a lot more sand piled in front of Perch - there used to be 5 or 6 steps from the beach up to their deck.

Re: Club O Beach - 06/04/2016 09:03 PM

So after proclaiming the rafts as being well built, the lower part of the ladder (consisting of the climbing rungs) on the raft by the Perch raft broke completely off today. Reported the tragedy to Watersports, and they said it would be repaired by tomorrow.
