Saba, she be gone...

Saba, she be gone... - 06/04/2016 08:07 PM

Saba, she be gone. We have been here eight days as of today and we have seen Saba and St Barts for about a half hour altogether. We have asked Pat and all the other appropriate island goddesses to return her, without success. The weather has been just a bit cloudy our entire trip. We have had no rain out days at all, mostly just somewhat cloudy, with none of those fabulously clear days that make your heart hurt from the beauty of it all. Still it is hard to have a better view than we do...

This is not really a complaint, more an observation. It doesn't make for as perfect a picture, but the air is warm, not hot, we have everything we need in the world, the ocean is at our doorstep and it's impossible to complain.

Yesterday I had one of those moments, sitting down by the pool here. For whatever reason, other than 'my' chair in the living room, I have always loved sitting in the same chair by the pool under the shade, gazing down toward Karakter. Usually I have a book in my lap and some kind of a drink on the table in front of me. The only sound is the waves and the wind. It was one of those perfect moments that brings tears to your eyes, wishing it would never end.

..and then the moment is gone, when a jet comes screaming down the runway landing and by the time I come out from my reverie, she is headed back toward the terminal, filled with excited vacationers who have just landed in paradise.. .

But I don't mind, as that is part and parcel of what this place is to me also. It's hard to explain why that is, but those who stay here a lot know it, as well as I do.

So our time here is fast winding down. We have only one more full day after today and we go home on Monday. We have so many 'irons' in the fire at home, I doubt we shall be able to squeeze more than 10 days off at a time for quite a while yet. But that has always kind of been our mode, we are able to get away more often than most, but in shorter stints. And that suits us.

And there are many things that I had definitely planned that we should do this time, which will not get done. I had absolutely intended to get to Anse Marcel, but we haven't made it happen. And I'm absolutely stunned that we have gotten to Mullet.. We haven't gotten to Club Orient beach... Regrets?? No.. None..

We are presently in emails with "Mother Nature"!

Will not go into the details at this point!! Still very private because of the investigations going on! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> Multiple contries, international possible concerns. US, French, Dutch, Canada and other organizations involved..

Along with Mother Nature and the forensic scientist.

There is a cryptic email from the possible "perp", but we are not yet allowed to post that!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

We may need the help of all on TTOL to have Saba and St. Barts returned! As it initially appears that the "perp" put them in their baggage!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

More to come as the investigation unfolds!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

Just to make sure you know that you know they have been stolen:

Moi? You can't pin this one on me. I have enough trouble stuffing my own belongings back into the luggage at the end of our trips. Remember back a bit to April and then Nov/Dec. before that- I, too, thought someone stole it.

Maybe, as a very clever posted suggested to me a while back, it really was but a big cut out towed back and forth every now and then to make some of us wonder.

Enjoy the rest of your time. If I were you I think I might grab a few friends and head towards Le Moulin Fou for one of your 'last suppers' of this trip. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

OMG Saba and the other islands were so clear in April. I couldn't stop talking about it!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

The sky looks so clear in your picture, it does look like they have disappeared.... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Enjoy your last days....

I read somewhere that the Sahara dust was supposed to be coming back. Maybe it has and is obscuring the islands?

It always surprises me when it seems so clear, yet you can't see the other islands. I guess there's a reason, but it doesn't make sense to me! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I don't know whether it is Sahara dust or not, but overall, even though it looks fairly clear in most of my pictures, it has been slightly overcast most of the time.

I was at LaVista Feb/Mar for 5 weeks. Seldom saw Saba even though SXM was clear. Really puzzling.

i think Saba keeps moving locations. For the three weeks we were there in mar/april....i think we only saw it maybe 3 days???? i actually think that it doesn't exist...and every now and then, they put a flotation device in the ocean, to make people think they are looking at another island. smile

The investigation continues.... there new breaking development about the theft of Saba and St. Barts. Captured on photos and ....... more to come.

Waiting on "official word from unnamed sources as they are not authorized to speak publically" with an ongoing investigation.

Hints of a possible family cartel that has been unknown to this point! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Many items of circumstantial evidence is now available, just waiting to be allowed to release.... think the authorities will be asking for public information and support for this crime of stealing Saba and St. Barts!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Re: Saba, she be gone... - 06/07/2016 12:01 AM

Has King Kong returned?

You know that Saba was originally the home of the ancient island known as skull island and the home of the ancient civilization that hid the giant ape until found by way of an antique map lost at sea during a misdirected adventure south into a lost sea.

If the legend is correct the island will disappear again to only return as a forgotten land.

This would make the paintings on the walls at LaVista beach condos only a rememberance of the past.

Let's all hope the legend has not returned for the sake of the many soles that were on the island.
