Staying at Royal Palm Resort and will be visiting several beaches including pinel island and anguilla. Is topless bathing okay in these areas?

not on anguilla for sure. We were there once and saw a couple, woman topless and the police issued a fine on the spot and told her to coverup.

Top free is fine at French side beaches. Although I personally have not been to Pinel (will some year) I understand its okay there as well.

Yup, fine on Pinel and all French side beaches. Not ok anywhere in Anguilla. Enjoy your visit!

As a point of interest it is not permitted to go topless on the Royal Palm's grounds or pool area.

If you go topless on Pinel, be prepared to have someone take your photo. I have seen it happen more than once.

Yea my wife and I say we would rather have roll lines, wrinkle lines and sag lines than tan lines any day

SXMScubaman stated that topless is not allowed on the grounds or pool area at Royal Palm. As it is a very family oriented environment. However, the many times we stayed there during July and a couple of November trips a few ladies went top free without incident at the outer ends of the buildings but still on property but not by the pool which is understandable.

We saw many a topless lady at Karakters beach chairs during our preflight lunch in june. So much for nono on the Dutch side.

There will always be people that don't respect the rules whether going topless or other. Some just don't think rules apply to them and do what they want without consideration to others.

Sxmscubaman is so right. We shouldn't expect to go there & make our own rules to suit us. Respect. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

I have seen at least one if not many topless women on every Dutch side beach I've gone to.

Well...it's been a while since I put up anything here...but when it's a "topless" thread, how am I supposed to resist.

This is just an example of how non-Dutch, the Dutch side is. If you go to the Netherlands, you find that the Dutch there seem less concerned about the issue than pretty much anywhere in Europe, including France where it's basically non-existent anymore. (Which makes the French side more like what France used to be...the whole issue is so interesting.)

From Wikipedia:
Quote
Public saunas in the Netherlands are always mixed gender and nudity is the norm when using these. In the Netherlands tanning top free is legal on almost all beaches. Municipalities with a beach (usually including quiet parts) tend to have a nudist beach; even if the municipality does not like it, it designates a quiet part as such in order to be able to forbid nudity on the rest of the beach.

This was fun. I should do it more often, but we haven't done much Caribbean or international traveling since 2012. So I don't know that I have anything to offer in the way of information these days.

Can't speak for my wife, but I sure hope I can go topless if and when I'm on the Dutch side.

Nope! If your wife can't, you can't either! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Thanks J.D. It's been quite a while. Maybe if we ever travel somewhere I'll have some info to contribute. We have big plans...three days in Asheville for Thanksgiving with the outlaws. That's about it.<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Doh.gif" alt="" />
