Margarita shrimp - 02/05/2017 09:06 PM

Several years ago Sandy got up early and made her way over to Andy and Cheryl's where Cheryl showed her how to make her buffalo margarita shrimp. She is currently making it for Superbowl. Yum!!

Carol - others have said they had Andy's recipe but have not shared it. I'm hoping that the OP will share. In the event that they don't this may be an alternative. I'm not comparing as Andy's margarita shrimp were one of a kind as he was.

I made Bang Bang shrimp for Superbowl and they were very good. You can make them as spicy as you like. I also did not use frozen popcorn shrimp but rather fried my own medium sized.

If this should be in the recipe forum, please feel free to move.

Sandy promised Cheryl that she would not post the recipe, when she got if. Now that the restaurant is closed, and Cheryl is no longer on island, I wonder if the promise still stands.

I don't know, I can't answer that question for you, other than to state that I think that Cheryl still lives on island??

She does

While I would love to see the recipe, I'm guessing the promise may have been unconditional, i.e. not affected by the operations of the business or residency. Maybe it's an old family recipe being kept close to the vest.

So, can you PM me the recipe? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Sandy agrees it would be a violation of trust to give out the recipe. Her promise was to not share it. We hold out hope that Cheryl will open a new restaurant, so the recipe will remain a secret.

OK, that's fine, I understand, sort of. But not sure why you posted, because the post would guarantee responses that would request the recipe..

My wife makes Andy's Mussells pretty often too. He let her prep with him one day years ago....He was one of a kind!!!

We had dinner at Andy & Cheryl's several times over the years and I just let the big guy do the cooking and was happy to be the recipient of his food and their hospitality. Never thought there would come a time when he wouldn't be around.

I am with you Carol, why did he post this in the first place?
Just caused a big stir! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif" alt="" />

He was just proud of the fact that he was able to enjoy margarita shrimp like he used to have in st maarten watching the game. You people are being to critical of someone's enjoyment.

Not the same -- what you posted looks like the low calorie version. They were pan fried and I believe had a flour coating. Lots of butter and hot sauce and aside from tequila Andy told me they had Triple Sec in them. Over the last couple of years I've used the entire bottle trying to replicate but never was like his.

Well said - didn't mean to cause a stir - except I would have substituted "happy" for "proud"

Pretty sure the other secret inggredients are the ambience, vibe, people, view and vacation spirit[s]!

Next part not directed to Fabila, but my take on the OP's comment was a joyful sharing of a SXM treasured moment being recreated at home. No different than us "knocking off" Orange Fever's garlic shrimp thin crust pizza befre we go or others kmaking their own infused rums or ??

3 1/2 wks to sampling the secret ingredients

Re: Margarita shrimp - 02/08/2017 02:06 AM

Totally understandable. But I may be wrong, but I think the OP was aware of all the posters on TTOL that have been trying to get that recipe for many years and "BAM" some one knows it and will not share it. That's all I am sayin'......

Give it a rest. Your wrong there. They were just caught up in the moment of enjoyment.

No, actually you need to give it a rest. I think we'll give the whole topic a rest.
