Beware of Using TTOL Sponsor Stmaartenflowers.com - 02/15/2017 01:29 AM

I placed an order for a dozen red roses for my wife for Valentine's Day several days ago. I spoke with them by phone and was instructed to place the order online and pay by cc online, which I did that day. Today, Valentine's Day, I started to call stmaartenflowers.com in the mid-afternoon when the flowers had not been delivered. Their cell phone number was not accepting calls. I called at least ten times throughout the afternoon and got the same message, so then I emailed them. It is now after 9PM in SXM and the flowers were never delivered and they never had the courtesy to contact me that the flowers would not be delivered, even after all of my phone calls and my email. They have my phone # so they could have called if there was some sort of problem.

I will be calling our credit card company tonight to dispute the charge.

Stmaartenflowers.com may be a sponsor, but this type of service is unacceptable and I think that it is important for anyone else that is considering using them that they definitely look elsewhere.

I have to say, this is February 14, and you post this the same day and with that title?

Well he couldn't have posted this yesterday since the flowers were scheduled to be delivered today. How was he supposed to know that the flowers wouldn't be delivered by tonight?

Look at the time stamp. They should have been delivered by then.

Sorry Carol...but you may be way off base here. Yes...it is the same day.....but it IS Valentines Day, and if this florist promised delivery for Valentines Day, and it was posted at 8:30 PM, I don't blame the OP for being upset. Obviously, his present for his wife for Valentine's Day has been ruined!!!!!! To go off on the poster in defense of a ''sponsor'' is just plain wrong. Sponsor or not, this company blew it bigtime. Would it be better if the valentines flowers are delivered tomorrow...the day after?? the answer is NO. Very poor service deserves notice.

My point is that they should have given it another day or so to see if the business contacted them with some kind of an explanation before posting. Obviously, the flowers weren't delivered on time.

My thoughts (for what it's worth).
I think most would agree that this business screwed up.
Some of us ran our own businesses and sometimes we screwed up.
The most important thing is what action this business takes now to make amends. I hope they make an effort to make things right.

With all due respect, a business' advertising on TTOL doesn't come with the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. Not every business is run like Queen SXM Rental phones or Shopndrop grocery service, two of my personal TTOL advertisers..

What happened is unfortunate and their follow-up stinks, but considering it's the Caribbean, where the pervasive attitude is all too often, "No worries, Mon!" I don't think pointing fingers at TTOL is warranted. And I hope they do come around to at least trying to make amends to the OP and his spouse - they certainly should. But in the end, at least she knows his heart and good intentions were in the right spot and that should be enough to overcome the disappointment. At least, it would work for me......

Just my personal opinion. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

I think that ALL should hold there tongue until the "accused" has a chance to respond. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cloud.gif" alt="" />

That was my point. At least give them a day or two to do that. We all agree that they didn't provide what was contracted for. But those of us who run small businesses know that 'stuff happens'. If there was going to be a day that a flower delivery service has a meltdown, it would be on Valentine's Day. It's like going to your favorite restaurant on Valentine's and waiting two hours for your food and it's cold. At least give them a day or two to at least respond to your complaint. They're not going to be able to 'make it right', but at least give them some chance to respond.

Here is an update. Flowers were delivered late this morning. There were no emails or phone calls to us to explain or to apologize. I had ordered a dozen red roses. Today's delivery was five droopy red roses and one pink rose, for a total of six roses (not a dozen). There were some other flowers and greens that were way past their prime. It was pathetic. Next time I will pick them up myself from a different florist.

Thanks for the update and sorry it did not work out. Are you going to attempt to resolve this further or continue the dispute on your credit card? Doesn't sound at all like a good experience.

Yes, we have disputed the charge.

On a positive note, Valentine's drinks and dinner were excellent. Drinks at Three Amigos and then dinner at Bajatzu. Bajatzu was packed and the food was amazing. Ironically my wife received a free red rose with dinner.

Thank you for the update. Now we all know that this florist totally screwed up. Even the day after, NOT delivering what was ordered....and then delivering flowers past their prime shows what kind of a shop they are running. I'm sorry....I have always been in a people serving business. A happy customer is customer that will stay with you....a dissatisfied customer can put you out of business. Sponsor or not, this company is a company I will never want to deal with. They would've been better off making up some better excuse...than delivering half dead flowers..that were not ordered..... and then the right thing would've been to give them their money back...no questions asked. As Pat eluded to, we all know that sponsorship here means that they get a seal of approval....but in this case, I feel the entire thread is warranted to let people know of this shady business. Shame on them.
